japanese debut with madonna in august

Following the news of Rainbow and T-ARA’s crossover to Japan, it’s been announced that 4-membered girl group SECRET also have plans to debut there as well. The girls plan to break into the J-pop scene with the Japanese version of their hit single “Madonna“, which will come out on August 3rd.

SECRET has been called “basement idols” in the past, because they use to live in a dorm that was half underground when they first debuted. Although the group’s debut song wasn’t much of a hit, they broke through with their singles “Magic” and “Madonna” last year. Their 2011 single “Shy Boy” gave the group their first #1, and in March, member Jieun’s solo – “Going Crazy“ also topped the charts.

These girls became one of the hottest girl groups in Korea, and Japanese record labels battled hotly for their contract. In the end, SECRET signed on with Sony Music Artist Records.

A representative from Sony commented, “I was surprised by how good the songs were, as well as how polished their performance was.”

Leader Hyosung commented, “With our Japanese debut coming up, I am very nervous. We are preparing very hard with new feelings, so please look forward to it. And please give SECRET a lot of love.”

The group will be holding a showcase live in Tokyo on July 6th prior to the release of their Japanese single.

Earlier, SECRET revealed that they’d be debuting in Japan with their hit track, “Madonna“. It seems that they’re off to a great start already, since the Japanese public is going crazy over their debut!

News of the girls’ debut is being reported on extensively by the Japanese press, including huge media outlets like Sankei Sports. It’s an exceptional case for a group that have yet to promote or debut there.

Representatives of TS Entertainment stated, “The Japanese have taken a high interest in the girls. News of SECRET’s debut is being reported on by various TV networks and the press. We will work hard to ensure that SECRET’s music is able to get out to everyone.”

I'm curious to see how well they'll do with their strong concept. It's a nice contrast to Kara (sweet and innocent) and SNSD (dark and cute). I love Madonna, it's my fav track by them, so I wish them all the best.

Btw, does anyone has a mp3 of their "Madonna" remix performance at SBS gayo daejun 2010? I love that remix to death and haven't been able to find one.
