I think it makes sense for him to leave. It's not like his life revolves around Ayu's career.

I thought about this as well haha Actually, the story kinda fits:

Summer diary -> he goes on hiatus, but comes back (because he reunites with Ayu at the end of the PV)
Winter diary -> he dies, which represents him leaving for good
