Okay I finally got the song and I've got to say it's very different.

It's very club-like, and the electronica is very distinct. This is like LOVEppears but in a much more mature manner.

About the lyrics, I agree that it may not be as 'deep' as songs like say the other girly songs, but I have not sensed any sex in the songs as well.

The first verse, though may have 'cute boys', but the last line of that verse is fantastic. "Taking a break from acting strong" I think that's an idea she always tries to sing about too.

It's more like a song about not being afraid of useless things like being nervous etc... just be bold and fight for your love!

But still if Ayu is feeling horny, then okay a sexualized song wouldn't be too bad either. (LOL)

The song seems to be about taking love into your own hands. That you shouldn't be afraid to make a move to win the heart of someone you like. It's telling you to listen to your heart, and letting go of your inhibitions, such as nervousness and shyness to try to make what you want yours. It's very Ayu.
The lyrics she uses are not the same as Ayu in the past.
English translation doesnt pick up the slang and rough and sexual-like qualities of the original text..
she is using 75% slang, rough term for girls, and the shameless / being on the offense.. if you don't try to touch.. etc...
At the least to me, that is NOTHING like she wrote before, at all.
Also this give to the beat thing, to me, and some other people on that 2 channel place, think it is like a Koda Kumi like thing.

Of course I know Koda Kumi is sex goddess,
And this song isn't close to that.
But it's Koda Kumi-like.. such a shallow and full of slang song..

yeah.. but that's how I feel about it.
Sorry if it offends anyone about that..
If this is anyone's favourite song.. I am sorry I am insulting it.
But I just dont feel anything in my heart about this song..
I dont connect to it at all.

I feel like I am complaining a lot.. I'm sorry. ><)
I know it could be very annoying if you like this material..
I know the feeling when people say "she is lipsyncing!" and I get annoyed.
Yea.. so I will just say.. I hope that the rest of the album has meaningful songs~~
And this one is just.. yeah.. ahahaha.
But yeah, Im sorry about it.

^u'd probably understand japanese more than most of us...so u are right in ur own way coz from what we read, yes, we definitely cant see the diff.

I know Japanese as LOTS and LOTS of politeness in their language. And one way of simply saying "Hi" can extend to very long sentences. Like "Ohayo" / "Hajimeshite" / "Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu"...all to express one feeling but the level of politeness is different...

Well...its saddening that this is happening for you since it takes you away from a truly amazing song. At least there's always the instrumental.

we'll see if masa capture the feel of the lyrics/song

@maikaru: Since you understand Japanese, I guess you would really understand the level of politeness in this song then.

I guess to a lot of us, the lyrics are just 'okay', since they don't spell SEX in front of my face, but in Japanese, it really suggest that.

I guess Ayu is really going in a lot of new suggestions...

But I still think that she's trying to make songs to get all touchy-touchy with Shu-ya in her lives~ Hahaha

maikaru you have wasted so much of your time repeating the same thing over and over. we get it, it's rude, koda kumi type lyrics & you don't like them.

songs like Sparkle are what make me love ayu, she's never afraid to change things up and do different stuff. like with 'GREEN'. totally amazing.

also i think i read somewhere in this thread that someone was saying how versatile koda kumi is. TRICK disproves that.

Did the same composer did "MW" and "Sparkle"?
"Sparkle" sounds a lot like "MW" in all sorts of ways!

I love it...probably more than Rule. I also wish this song would have had a PV! I can totally see Ayu being sexy and pushing the boys away when the 'no no no' parts come on. Maybe she will make a PV for it later? I really hope so! This song is so fresh and different from what she's done before. 10/10 for me!

i dont get why ppl were so obessed with the lyrics?
so its a shame if ayu wrote sth sarta erotic or horny?
come on, you cannt just expect she alway comes up with all those philosophic lines!
she is a real woman and so its wrong to refer sexual thing?

LOL~! actully, many had tired of her didactical lyrics and this occasional lines, yes, we may call it horny or even ****-ish style, is just excellent, showing a all-around grown-up ayu!

Actually, its just funny, isnt it?

I can't believe Ayu made this song. I feels very danceable and JUST KAKOII!!!!!!!!
i know what you mean. it's not like anything i've imagined from the preview
but i have to say i liked it the first time i heard the full ver. but felt kinda wierd. but as i listened to it for the 2nd time, it really fits very well and i'm loving it more and more as we speak =D

I have to agree. When I heard the front part of the song, I was like "Britney Spears HUH??" O.O

But I like what I hear.
It's really something new for Ayu.

Am I the only one who thinks this song is pretty dark and (at some parts) sad? I really get a dark image from the music... It has kind of a "I'm at the rock bottom now but I can only get up from here if I believe so" vibe to it. Just to make clear I love Sparkle xD

But I was just thinking since everyone is just commenting if the lyrics are erotic or not and how the style is different. So, everyone, tell about what kind of a feeling Sparkle brings to you, I wanna hear people's thoughts Dark? Happy? Powerful? Melancholic?
I think it's very melancholic.

As of now, Im liking this song.
But I will wait for the exact translation from Masa's.
Yah, its a huge change for her writing style but she needs some change but not that drastic which includes the image of the artist herself.

I like her wholesome image like no other.

If you put the sex thingy on the lyrics, it may look so sexual.
If you don't put it on the lyrics, its much more like Ladies Night or... one of the Secret's tracks or ourselves.

Well, I accepted it... this will not harm my fandom for her.

All I can say from Sparkle is a really new material not the typical B-Side single we all know.

Spoiler:
I think the single cover's image song is really for Sparkle not Rule

To hell these annoying people who are caring about the lyrics too much. She's not ****ting herself, she's just sexing up her image. She isn't 18 years old anymore, kay? And the lyrics aren't that horny. NO, they aren't. Days can be even hornier than this, think what she does when she finds the guy she's waiting for. At least, I'm glad that not all the people in this forum thinks this way. *hugs*
