I agree. Maybe I've just become to critical "in my old age?", but Microphone just registered as "interesting" to me, not glorious or show-stopping. The funny thing is, I think a lot of that simply has to do with the cinematography, rather than the actual concept, costumes, and so forth in the PV itself.
I guess the camera angles in Microphone just felt too regular and uninspiring. It could be, of course, that I've just gotten too attached to the selective focus and crazy fore-middle-background focus play that occurs in so many of her PVs (I don't know the directors, but, for example, Part of me, JEWEL, rainy day, About you, Marionette, INSPIRE, Moments, talkin' 2 myself, Sparkle Greatful Days, Because of You, Hanabi ~Episode II~, Together when...and so on, each including this effect to a varying degree). I guess...it was neat, but it didn't have enough peculiar edge for me? *is too critical/picky*

I would say Ayu was in Ladies Night about a smidge more than in Microphone.

With Masashi Muto, it seems like save for Depend on you and is this LOVE?, many of his Ayu videos tend to have their focus on more than just Ayu, which imo is nice. I'll watch the other PVs if I want to see all-Ayu-in-a-PV, you know?

If you're disappointed with this one, I honestly don't know whether or not you'll be satisfied by Sexy little things... that seems to have many cuts to models walking or those male models walking around/jumping.

I would say that this is her strongest bunch of PVs since Secret, but mostly because after Secret is when she mainly started using Ishii with occasional uses of Tetsuo Inoue. (AND THE DREADED SHIMOKO) If you don't like them, that's your taste/expectations/whatever, but I think that individually and as a whole, these PVs are really quite amazing in comparison to her 2007-2009 work that was heavy with Luis Hernandez/Takahide Ishii/foreign director/Kazuyoshi Shimomura.

It's just really nice to basically have an album full of Masashi Muto, Wataru Takeishi, and Tetsuo Inoue(???) even if Ishii and Shimoko are both there. Actually this seems like the most varied in terms of directors she's been in a while, I think.

Secret - Takahide Ishii for Startin' / Born To Be... / BLUE BIRD / Beautiful Fighters w/ Luis Hernandez / momentum, Hideaki Suenaga for 1 LOVE, Wataru Takeishi for JEWEL
GUILTY - Wong Hoi for Kyoai, Tetsuo Inoue for talkin' 2 myself / Marionette, Wataru Takeishi for decision, Takahide Ishii for Together When..., (don't) Leave me alone
NEXT LEVEL + Mirrorcle World - Kazuyoshi Shimomura for Mirrorcle World / GREEN / Sparkle, Takahide Ishii for Days / Rule, Luis Hernandez for NEXT LEVEL / Curtain call
Rock'n'Roll Circus - Kazuyoshi Shimomura for Lady Dynamite, Masashi Muto for You were... / Sexy little things / Microphone, Tetsuo Inoue (???) for Don't look back, Takahide Ishii for BALLAD, Wataru Takeishi for Sunrise / Sunset

Five directors compared to her usual (recently) three? I think (miss)understood had the same amount of directors working on things... seems like she maxes out at 5... (m)u/RnRC/Memorial address...

(miss)understood - Tetsuo Inoue for STEP you / rainy day, Masashi Muto for is this LOVE? / Ladies Night, Wataru Takeishi for fairyland / HEAVEN, Luis Hernandez for Bold&Delicious / Pride, Kouki Tange for alterna

I think this video would be really awesome without all those random and lame shots of people throughout it.. that seriously ruined the video for me.. especially that stupid girl with the megaphone wtf was that all about..

There are very few scenes in Ladies Night that Ayu isn't in actually. She is in that PV a lot. Here it was just too many random foreigners when I would rather see Ayu.

It's not a bad PV at all though and it is definitely one of her best the last few years. I just don't agree with the "best PV ever" assessments and I feel the director is capable of more. If Shimomura had directed this, I'd probably be saying what a step up it is, haha. But for Mushi, it just doesn't compare to most of his previous work for me.
