Nishino Kana's "to LOVE" was best album of the year 2010...*and it sold more than Love songs !

Songs and albums don't sell because they are better than something else and we shouldn't even discuss our personal tastes and think the stuff's selling cuz we like it . Good music doesn't always sell. Kana had some of the biggest hits in jpop world during the last 2 years and that's why her previous album was so successful. Even though if, Distance and Esperanza are imo among her best singles Thank you, Love isn't going to sell more than 400k and considering that her previous album nearly reached 700k, I'd say that's a big drop. Sure she could always make another smash hit and do better with the next album, but I am not sure if she'll be in a spotlight for that long. Ku has never reached the Namie level, let alone the Ayu/Hikki level of popularity, Kana is still far from being the next Koda Kumi let alone the other three.

Now imo, singles aside Thank you, Love is Kana's weakest album to date.

Love songs wasn't even nominated as ayu doesn't take awards since 2004.
But yeah kana's album is more popular than anyone from the other nominees anyway.

Kana's too generic to be queen of anything in my opinion. Her songs don't stand out to me.

So generic that her sophomore album sold like, 600,000+ copies and reached the Top 5 album charts of the year? Though we can't measure her success on just that. I just know Kana will be here to stay for a while. But she's the queen in my mind ;D

If she stays she stays, makes no difference to me. I can't make it through any of her songs personally, but then again besides the Holy Trinity (Ayu, Kuu, Namie) I think everyone else in the pop scene fails in comparison. Except for the few gems like Miliyah Kato and Mika Nakashima etc.

And then come this girl, she is the absolute queen of jpop, her domination goes strong for 2 or 3 years, and them, she is just one more singer on jpop industry...

Koda Kumi


All of those singers were considered "The Queen of Jpop" at some point of their careers since living legends like Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki and Hikaru Utada came, conquered and changed the jpop landscape forever... Good luck to Kana Nishino^^

Wrong music doesn't exist. As you said it's personal taste. I vomit every time I think of an idol band or Korean pop stars, yet I don't say people are listening to the wrong kind of music...

oh lol Imo she has loads of pretty amazing songs, but an equal number of snoozies, though those are mostly the b-sides.
