I think it's not about acceptance, but about the difference between solo artists and bands.

I think solo artists are much more interesting. Somehow bands are a litlle boring, don't know how to explain it

Yeah, we can't forget that. Ai Otsuka and "Rabbit" - same thing as YUI and "flower flower". Now I really have to wonder what's next...

I don't think people understand - they formed bands because they're bored of their solo careers and want a new direction. Would you rather not hear anything from them again?

This. And also, when an artist's career up until now actually means something to you, you would naturally be surprised either positively or negatively by something like this. To me, my own dissatisfaction with her doing this is because I love everything she released so far and her solo discography is great. Yet it will not continue anymore. Knowing that she is going to be in a band implies lots of changes. Someone said they are disappointed that people can't accept new directions from their artists, but I'm disappointed in how people can't understand fan's love for how their artists were. She is practically not YUI anymore. She is flower flower, and her name is Yoshioka Yui from "flower flower" band.

I don't know why it seems that people are almost attacking me for saying that I'm not pleased with this. I get it - the band was her idea and she wants to do something new. I can't pretend that I like this when I don't. But it's okay, there is never a guarantee that any of my favorite artists are going to continue making music (either as solo artists or anything at all).

Btw. I didn't like it when Otsuka formed Rabbit, either. But I wasn't such a big fan of her anyway, so I was okay with it. But this... is quite hard to swallow.

wow, this is a surprise! i didn't think YUI would have her own band. i just thought she was on a hiatus & her solo career would continue, but i actually think a band could be a good thing for YUI. i'm looking forward to listening to music from "flower flower" & i'm also happy to see that even though YUI will be in a band now, she's still continuing with music.

YUI to resume her musical activities as a part of band “FLOWER FLOWER”

It was revealed that singer-songwriter YUI, who halted her musical activities at the end of last year, will resume her activities as part of rock band “FLOWER FLOWER.”

The band will perform at live event “JAPAN JAM 2013” which will be held at Shinkiba STUDIO COAST on May 4th.

FLOWER FLOWER is the band formed by YUI herself after she called to her the musicians she respected, and she serves as the vocalist and guitarist of the band with the name of “yui” with her completely new look of short blond hair. Apparently, the band started a studio session at the beginning of this year, and also held secret live performances at several locations across Japan since last month.

yui said, “I thought that I would be able to purely enjoy music by creating sound with these members. New flashes and the possibility in music are naturally expanding from each member’s idea and performance.” She also explained regarding the name of the band, “I wanted to give it an unaffected and natural name. There may be so many cool names, but I dared to make it a name that sounds relaxing, and can stay in your head. I hope we can express our powerful and interesting ideas freely.”

After their first appearance at “JAPAN JAM 2013″, FLOWER FLOWER will also perform at “TOKYO METROPOLITAN ROCK FESTIVAL 2013” which will be held at Wakasu Park in Shinkiba, Tokyo on May 26th.

Additionally, they also launched their official site on April 3rd, but it’s currently undecided if the band will release any work at this moment.

YUI Ends Hiatus with A New Band

After almost five months from YUI's break, it was announced that the singer/songwriter will already return to the music industry as a vocalist of the new band Flower Flower. The band was said to be already performing live around Japan and has been doing studio sessions earlier this year which obviously explains that YUI's time from the hiatus was actually used and given for the preparation of the band's debut.

Flower Flower is a four-member group which consists of other musicians YUI admires and respects. The band will be making their debut on May 4 at the Japan Jam event in Tokyo - Shin-Kiba STUDIO COAST. Following their formal debut, they will also be participating at the Tokyo Metropolitan Rock Festival 2013 on May 26.

About the band's name "Flower Flower" YUI said, "I wanted to pick a name that wasn't flashy, but was natural. There were probably a lot of cool names that I could've picked, but purposely, instead of doing that, I wanted to pick a name that seemed effortless and relaxing, and had a natural feeling injected into it. I want to express powerful and interesting ideas freely."

YUI also sports a new look with a short blonde cut. What can you say about this and her comeback?

At the end of the day , if you don't like flower flower , then don't listen to them , simply as that . YUI has her own reasons for doing this . At least her 2nd hiatus this time round doesn't involve her retiring from the limelight , unlike the 1st time when she took 6 months off

Also it's a choice whether you want to listen to flower flower or not . I didn't even bother to listen to Ai Otsuka's Rabbit band cos it's my choice for doing that , not because of any other reasons

First of all, I'm not attacking you. To me, some of the things that you're complaining about are a bit selfish and it's irritating because you're not really giving this band a chance before judging them. At the end of the day, YUI is still YUI. She didn't LOSE her identity, she's going in a different direction than we're use to seeing her do! Why is that so hard to accept??? BUT! That's just how I see it... Then again, you're entitled to your opinion. Doesn't mean that I agree with it. ^^;

BREAKERZ are currently on hiatus but they have solo projects which they're all doing separately during their break at this moment but does this mean they've lost their music identity as well ? of course not

Likewise , B'z also does solo stuff on the sideline too & fans know/accept that there're things that B'z cannot do together as a duo but they're able to do individually

The same thing goes for NEWS & Tegomass . What Tegomass does , their stuff is something NEWS will & cannot do & vice versa

To me as what Heather said , you haven't even heard the stuff that flower flower released & already upfront in advance you said you will not give their music a chance ? o_O

What happens if the music flower flower does is going to be something you will like a lot more than what YUI does in her solo work ? Wouldn't that be a pure irony & going against everything on what you've said in the 1st place ?

I have a feeling what flower flower does will be something that's totally out of YUI's music comfort zone . I could be wrong but I personally feel that you should not jump to conclusions so fast without being presented with facts

Are you people seriously telling me that I have no right to feel what I feel about this? From now on I guess it's just better to keep quiet than post any negative feelings I might have about something. I'm not attacking YUI for doing what she is. I think I explained myself very well in past messages but I guess if you can't understand, you can't. Does my opinion matter anyway? Like I said, next time I'll make sure to not comment things like this because people simply don't ALLOW you to feel negative about something. If you guys would say this in the following manner: "Hey, don't be so down about it. YUI will still make music, just in a band this time. Maybe you'll like it, after all " It would feel a lot more encouraging than the way you guys write what you do in a manner that's like I've attacked you personally or something. Your attitude doesn't help at all, so why bother replying to my posts?

I feel this is getting out of hand a bit and I had no idea people were going to directly reply to me in this matter, but this is a forum after all. I get it, I might like the band if I give it a chance, and it might be even better than YUI's previous works. I understand what you guys are trying to say because I know I might be a bit irrational with this, but that's because I'm currently disappointed and I can't help that feeling. I probably will give flower flower a chance because at the end of the day there is YUI in it. And like you guys say, I might like it even more. So let's just leave it at that. xD

This is just about me not liking the idea of her leaving her old discography and nothing new being released as YUI. That's it. FRIDAY reports yui is in a relationship

Weekly tabloid ‘FRIDAY‘ has reported, in the April 12th issue, that FLOWER FLOWER’s vocalist/guitarist yui is in a relationship.

According to sources, yui’s new boyfriend is rock band People In The Box’s vocalist/guitarist Hatano Hirofumi. The band made their major debut in 2009 with the mini-album, “Ghost Apple“.

The two met at a live venue. Since last year, yui had been personally participating in lives during spare moments from her singing career. After performing together with People In The Box a few times, she hit it off with Hatano, who is also from Fukuoka.

While they’ve only been dating for about a month, they’ve been frequenting each others’ homes and they’ve also been spotted together several times in Tokyo. ‘FRIDAY’ also published a photo of the two walking and holding hands.

yui put a halt to her solo activities after performing on the ‘NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen‘ last year. On the 2nd of this month, she announced that she has resumed her musical activities by forming the band FLOWER FLOWER.

Since early this year, yui has completely changed her look by transforming her long, dark hair to a blond, short hairstyle. She is scheduled to appear in the live event, ‘Japan Jam‘, on May 4th at Shinkiba Studio Coast.

YUI Spotted On A Date

After announcing that her new band Flower Flower will be debuting in May, vocalist YUI was spotted holding hands with fellow musician, Hirofumi Hatano, guitarist of another Japanese band, People In The Box.

According to the Japanese tabloid FRIDAY on April 12, after YUI broke up with her former boyfriend, she and Hatano met and got to know each other well as the guitarist is also from Fukuoka, YUI's hometown. The couple has only began dating for a month. The closure stemmed from YUI's live performances during her hiatus as a solo artist.

The couple seems to be open about their relationship as there were also reports that they were seen entering each other's apartments and holds hands in public.
