not a fan of this comeback... bah, based on comments I've read, it's true, it's sort of a jarring change in style.. I feel like the sort of cute, light vocals (and sometimes strong solos) are bizarre with the hip-hop arrangement, and the arrangement itself is sort of all over the place!

Been bombarding myself with "I Got A Boy" repeatedly to the point where I actually am liking it now, which is what I was hoping would happen after I listened to the song a million times and dissected the newness out of it to the point where I know it like the nape of my neck. Glad too, because I really wanted to and needed to like this song.

Also after further deliberation, they didn't do such a terrible job at delegating lines. I still believe some should have had more than others to make up for loss and you know future times.

Here's how it goes:

You have your returning rappers from "The Boys". Yuri, Yoona, Hyo-yeon and Sooyoung.

Yuri and Sooyoung open it up with a rap and later both have a little part in the pre-chorus.

Then Yoona and Hyo-yeon have their rap battle in the middle then later they both have a little part in another pre-chorus.

Tae-yeon amd Sunny are the next pair. They have opening verses and then return after the chorus for 2 more verses and then again at the end they repeat their 2nd verses during the last Chorus. But Tae-yeon gets a little extra to do in one of the mid-breakdowns in that mad ugly orange wig. She's the only one who gets extra. Ugh.

Then Seo-hyun gets an opening verse as well and then returns for some odd defunct mid-section. Then lastly she gets a very small part at the end of Jessica's Bridge for some foolish reason when it all should have been Jessica's but anyways.

And Tiffany gets her crap ad-libs in but I refuse to let those count. So she also gets to join Seo-hyun in the odd mid-section with a verse before also joining Tae-yeon in another dirty orange wig for the breakdown that her voice will never be able to handle live. The vocal liiiiiies.

And then Jessica. Poor Jessica. She gets these random lines in the middle of everyone else's opening verses in the beginning and then her Grand Bridge at the end that isn't long enough. That's it.

Well Tiffany did grant her permission to get an English Ad-lib in, which is very gracious of her considering Jessica CAN SPEAK ENGLISH. So that was a big thing for Jessica and I won't take that away from her........since Tiffany probably will in their next song.

So while it could have been done better, quite a noteworthy effort in parsing out the Shine.

the cheaper probably is DVDHeaven but for some reason they deleted my order (that I paid) without even shipping it.. Wth, so I cancelled and gonna get my copies from ebay. leegarion3167 if you know this shop, they give you freebies and they are super fast. (and not too exp, 4usd difference or so)

The eBay seller grapemusiccd (I think) is reliable and allows you to choose. I bought the Hyoyeon version of the album from him/her.

Why are Korean ballads so ****ing bad? Listening to the ballads on this album is like watching paint dry.

After listening to it a few more times, I still think it's a terrible song.. but it grew on me a tiny bit. I think the "I got a boy" parts are the most annoying.. I can forgive the rest but those parts are like a hammer to the head.
Dancing Queen grew on me a little. Their music bank live was cute, loved their outfits
Yuri lost a little weight, she looks nice, just hope she doesn't lose more.

Look At Me and XYZ are really good - give them a few more listens and see if they grow on you

Sometimes I wonder if Tiffany is some kind of adlib nazi and all adlibs have to be approved by her Jessica hardly adlibs but Fany is there doing it all the time.

Yuri's dance adlibs in the end of Oh! are really cute though. There was one I watched the other day of her "swimming" out from the group.

After basically listening to the album MANYMANY times; I must agree with corikaru; I like the title track. But the "I got a boy"-part I could be without. I REALLY like "express 999", "XYZ", "Romantic st". I like "talk talk", "dancing queen" and "look at me". They will probably grow more on me.

I can't get over how different Tiff sounds in I got a boy. And how Tae sometimes sound like Jessica. Might only be me.

I find I can tell TaeYeon and Jessica apart fairly easy now but it's taken ~3 years lol

SeoHyun is the most difficult as she just aces everything so she's not as distinctive as the other voices.....YoonA, SooYoung and Yu Ri are really hard to pick too.....Sunny I can pick most of the time only because she's a bit higher pitched but not as soft/breathy as Jessica.

HyoYeon is usually easy because her voice is quite deep and she's usually placed just before one of the main vocalists but I get her and SooYoung confused often.

As for Tiffany, I just listen for English xD Her accent is kinda noticeable after a while as her whole pronunciation seems to shift when she has an English line

I totally agree; SeoHyuen, Yoona and Yuri are hard to differ between. Jessica, Hyo and Sunny have the voices that stand most out. Usually I have no issues between Jessica and Tae, but on 'I got a boy' i was confused several times. Not so hard to spot Tae, just look after the one who has the most lines .___. Sooyoung differs a bit in how she speaks.. I can't really put my finger on it.. Almost like her pronunciation is different.

I've known them for.. about 3 years now, and I have no problem pointing out who's who, based on their voices or appearences, took me a few weeks to get to remember everyone but I'm a fast learner Taeyeon et Seohyun were the easiest for me to point out, based on voice only, as for looks, I had a tendency to mix up seohyun and yuri at first lol
As I first got into them, they were promoting in Japan, so Sooyoung stand out the most as she's the only one who's fluent.. I even thought she was the leader or something at first lol
