Wow thanks everyone for the links, Goldwave is pretty good expect for when you have to adjust your voice postion to match the intrusments.
btw the microphone that I have for my computer is the very sensitive kind, you can hear my breathing with it and it gets all how do you call it...static? |

You can make a pop filter with a coathanger & pantyhose stretched over it to keep alot of your breath from going through to the microphone. If you put it between your mouth and the mic, it only picks up your voice. Quite nifty, not unlike what they use in record studios.
As for the static, I'd say with a $7 microphone that's gonna be kinda common. GoldWave has filters to remove noise & hissing, but your voice kinda sounds like it's underwater when you're done. It's not horribly noticeable though, if you're not listening for it.

You can contribute ANYTHING you want. Write english (or any other language) lyrics, submit background instruments prepared for someone else to sing too (we need ALOT of that actually), or just send in ideas for new versions of songs.
Post here for the time being as the A Tribute forums are sadly down at the moment ~_~

Okay, a quick summing up of the rules and what we need again, since i haven't posted here in awhile and there have been questions.
1. Singers: The background music you use can't be the instrumental, unfortunately. We're doing this for copyright reasons, as well as creative reasons. The best idea for you, given the problems people have had and my assessment of the situation, is to record your voice alone and just send it that way if you really want to sing. What you need to do is listen to the original song (or the instrumental, if that's easier, and if there is one) through headphones so that the microphone doesn't pick it up, and just use the microphone to record your singing. This way the vocals are timed properly and have the correct rhythm for DJs and musicians to build their music around your voice. When singing, please use pantyhose/nylon tights material stretched over something like a coathanger as a pop shield so that spit sounds and puffs of air aren't caught by the microphone, just your voice. When recording, record at the highest quality possible so that it doesn't sound grainy or blurry at all. If you don't have a good enough sound card to do this, just do your best and the people on our end will try to filter it as best we can. If you can also record background instruments to go with your vocal track, please do so. If not, send it anyway and we'll see what one of the contributing DJs can do. 2. For musicians and DJs: Those of you doing remixes, if you can, please do accompaniment for the acapella singers as well as (or instead of) your remixes. Remixes are nice, yes, but we are getting alot more of them than cover versions, and cover versions were the original reason for the project. Once I've collected up acapella files, i'll contact the musicians and DJs to see who wants to do the music for them, then have the singer or singers contact you so you can talk about how you want the song to sound. 3. For everyone: please do not send any mp3s with bitrates less than 320 for acappellas or instrumental versions by musicians & djs, and no less than 128 for completed songs. 320 files are necessary for "pieces" because once they're saved again after splicing, they downsample a bit and start sounding scratchy after awhile if the original bitrate is only 192 or 128. I would ask for raw WAV files instead of 320 mp3s, but those files would just be too large for you to send them to me. I hope this clears everything up! Please post again if you have any questions.
