I really like the song (definately beats STEP YOU by a mile) but the PV is seriously corny although I have to admit she, the set and graphics looked awesome. If she is intentionally copying Britney (or her director), I don't find the reason why she would. Based on a time interview she did in 2000-01, she doesn't think too much of Britney.

I think this PV was meant to be fun and simply enjoyed, I don't think there was supposed to be a big, dramatic plot, just her having fun and looking good and that was achieved quite nicely. I especially like the end when she pulls off the mask, she looks so cute! As for the song, I really like it, and I think this PV will be one of those I watch again and enjoy. As it said in the PV, this song is for people when they're down and need to rise up - and that's what I think it does, raises people up!

Ayu is not sexy in "Startin'". She's trying to be sexy. Which doesn't make it sexy. Ayu is sexy when she looks naturally sexy. (example: picture in my siggie on the right) When she acts sexy, she just isn't. The best example is "my name's WOMEN" PV. She was trying to have the sexy look, which didn't made her look sexy.

As for hitomi, well. She's naturally sexy. She isn't trying be it. She simply IS.

As for the covers... "LOVE LIFE" is definitely way sexier. "LOVEppears" looks slightly awnkward.

I think that the PV is amused, entertained and has a good technical section, the animations of ayu in the motorcycle and falling in front of flames are enough good done.

The Pv has variety of different scenes and all very colorful, ayu looks quite attractive and also amused. The script of pv is enough crazy and disordered, is quite dynamic.

Starting PV cheered my day.
it will be sold like hot bread.

LOL i actually think the complete opposite: In LOVE LIFE hitomi looks extremely uncomfortable. I have all of the CD scans in very high quality and her poses try to hide her nudity in a very awkward way. (I do LOVE the LOVE LIFE cover though). ayu looks pretty tough and determined in LOVEppears. That's definitely not akward.
Her action in "my name's WOMEN" was pretty excellent. It's just that people can't open their minds to see ayu doing something more appealing (hitomi and koda kumi are already well known for trying more provocative poses so people are usually used to it, reason why it makes them look suited for doing that while ayu supposedly "can't". The first koda kumi and hitomi videos that tried to feature them trying to look sexy were rather laughable, but now they can handle it prettty well. Can't ayu have her chance now?)

This video is a parody. A parody of what specifically is open to interpretation, but anyone who thinks there is an ounce of seriousness in this PV needs to have their head examined. The video 'borrows' from nearly everything in pop culture - other musicians, anime, movies, even stereotypes (as un-PC as they may seem).

Someone said something about when people do something like ayu, we say they copy, and when we think ayu does something resembling others, we call it a 'parody' for conveinence - this isn't the case. Nobody would call the movie 'Airplane!' unoriginal because it's a parody, quite the opposite in fact, because it was highly entertaining. 'Entertainment' was certainly the aim of this video, and i am dissapointed to see that it didn't work for everyone.

PS - Ayumi is a WOMAN, not a little girl. She is sexy and commanding in this video, and she damn well has the right to be. I'd rather be with ayu than koda, anyways - we're trying to stop the spread of STDs, aren't we?

If this wasn't a parody, I would say that this is one of the worst videos I have ever seen (though yes, better than B&D, but that's not saying much). But as a parody, its almost laughable, though still not that great.

I really do think she's trying to hard to be "sexy", what with the attempts at provocative, "look how hot I am" dancing, which doesn't really work. I hope she's not trying to be "sexy" like Koda Kumi just because she happens to be popular.

There's a weird subdiscussion about Ayumi's purported "sexiness" LOL. Just my two cents but I don't think Ayumi is sexy, she's cute. I just think that more recently, she looks to be trying to exude a sexy vibe, more than before at least. But again, everyone has different opinions and standards of sexiness.

I'm looking forward to any comments Ayumi will have towards the "Startin'" PV since half of the initiates see it as a parody and/or criticism of other pop stars while the rest just see it as a fun video which doesn't have to have a deeper meaning.

About the black dress: I recognized right away that it is the same dress she wore in a Voyage performance. I don't see the problem with it. At least we know Ayu isn't wasteful and just gets rid of her clothes after she performs in them once like so many other artists do. I actually like that she wore the same thing more than once.

No, I'm not being "close-minded" about her "different" images. It's just that I have a different perception of sex appeal. She just doesn't meet my definition.
Back on topic, the PV is definitely not what I've expected. I mean break-dancers with rock?
