Really? I didn't know that, then it makes it even more obvious

I'm not bothered by it either, it's just that she could have chosen some other aspect of the 40s and make it more original but oh well...

I totally love the "SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA" PV so far! It's fantastic.

Kuu is looking so pretty & cute in the PV! I love her outfit. I like the dancing, too! It's so cute. I also still love the song, too. It's amazing! I can't wait to watch the full PV.

I'll just say that I dislike the 20's, that fashion, the music of those time, I didn't like Aguilera's Back to Basic at all, but I love this PV preview, somehow Kumi did it in her way, it didn't overpower her, she's still the main part of it, I want to see that dance live, hoping for some TV performances

I think Christina was aiming for the 40's.

And I agree with you on the rest. Kumi had enough personality to make that style seem like her own.

I'm actually starting to like "SMYH" more now that I've seen the preview.

Her other new song "Winner Girls" has to grow on me still.

Christina is like the "ultimate idol" for Kuu. Even that hideous outfit Christina wore on VMA 2002, Kumi has one that is almost the same. lol

So yeah, I see more of Candyman than Single Ladies, it's not even the first time Kuu dances in front of a white background anyway.

Btw the theme for the tour this year is sort of a sailor theme. The FC t-shirts has rudders, bells, anchors and stuff.

I'm not familiar with American history or music / fashion history, to me 20's 30's 40's maybe even 50's are more or less the same, 60's been quite different so I kind of distinguish 60's, 70's and 80's in my lame way :p

I mentioned the '20s, but just regarding the dance coreography. Maybe that's why you got it, SKYia.
It's really hard to distinguish, but I think I do see some characteristics for certain times.
The dance totally has moves from the '20s (Charleston especially).
Female dancers and artists, got popular (e.g. Josephine Baker), as women got more rights for the first time, got their first wave of emanzipation, also sexually, which you can see in fashion, music and dancing.
Sailor theme in fashion is actually quite old already and it got it's first big trend about 1915.
Though those high waist shorts Kuu's wearing are a trend not before the 40's. Kuu's make up is pretty 20's as well, with accented eyes and lips.
In the '40s, highlight for make up was more on the lips as far as I know.
But the hair looks '40s again to me, but I'm not an expert, I've just read much.
Also Jazz music and Blues blossomed back then in the '20s and you can hear elements in SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA (Charleston was mostly danced to Jazz).
As Kuu is a fan of Christina Aguilera, I guess she got the retro idea from that.
But Kuu took inspiration from '20s as well as from '40s if you ask me.

Lol I just made a facebook status yesterday stating that I am confused as to how I made it through high school as well as I did, because I don't know crap about American history or any history for that matter, and the fact that the 20's-60's in my mind are all part of the same era. Haha.

linking this with a more back to basics style isn't far fetched for a female solist with a big voice
it doesn't take a aguilera to do so, and she surely wasn't the first

stripped down music and 'older' instruments is just a simple way to highlight that
