Sure, but I think they still at least want her to hit #1 so they can say she's still the #1 queen, which she pretty much is of this day and age.

And holy jesus, the concert money. How many billions of yen is that?

Eeeh, for me, I'm just glad she's still got #1. I don't think it really deserves it.. but still.

Wow, this is a huge drop for Ayu.
But I've expected something like that, watching all the other female singers sales.
I think S/S won't reach 100k or it will have troubles reaching it at last.

Number 1 again is good enough for me, even if the drop is huge. Everything's fine...her sales to ORICON aren't really that important to me.

Oh no... The drop could mean that there could be problems competing with Morning Musume - the only way to push herself up are those upcoming TV performances - and oh no, another earthquake...

Wait a minute - I just checked that for Thursday that there was an earthquake on that morning!!! Could the earthquake really be a factor why both Ayu and Morning Musume got those sales drops??? Blame it on a factor outside of music - and maybe people are trying to be safe more rather than shopping right away for single sales - but do not worry, it's only early and hopefully Ayu can continue her dominancy...

The only way MM can get #1 is if their sales will stay the same or will go up.
Or ayu's single selling a bit more or less than 1000 a day for the rest of the week.

eeeek! with second-day sales as dramatically low as that, can it really stay on top the whole week?

as far as this being the end of an era, i believe so! 0_o but maybe not necessarily for single female artists. in the US, at least, there is no more money in single and album sales. it's all about the tour-- without one, an artist doesn't cash in. it seems Japan is following that trend. and like the US, i think Japan will drop boybands in a few years and (hopefully) embrace single female artists once more.

OUCH! That's a huge drop!
More than a half drop is a surprising one!

*remembers MW vs. SCS moments*

Yeah, I'd say it has good chances of ending up that way, which is still pretty much ok and that way there are chances it will sell the same as talkin' 2 myself or a bit more. This should teach AVEX to make the singles more desirable for fans in the future.

I'm not sure though if it will help anymore to make the singles eye candies.
Look at kuu's 3 SPLASH, it was just an eye candy single with 3 versions with 3 different covers, 3 songs, interludes, PVs etc.
But it still doing worse than even the collaboration single with her sister misono.
It might help for longer chart life somehow but go figure if multiple versions and first presses will be helpful in the future.

The only difference is that Kumi doesn't have the fan base of the same size.

Ah well I personally don't mind multiple versions, it's better to have many versions to choose from even if the covers are similar.

I'd say it's obvious Ayu might have a tough time selling her singles physically, that doesn't mean the songs aren't popular, as obviously they are doing well digitally, just that AVEX needs to make her singles more worthwhile, Rule/Sparkle had the remixes, posters and the package was cool - I am not blaming Ayu, as I think the music and the songs are just fine, just that when it comes to marketing AVEX isn't doing the best job imo.

That same page says NEXT LEVEL was rated 5/5 by the reviewers. You can never be sure with those, as both the hard core fans and the hard core trolls are posting. I am not saying those don't reflect the opinion of general public, but it's hard to reflect it with just 30 opinions.

Anyways, I didn't say TW... sold million+ just that it was close to million than you originally posted

lol Seriously, this is just like MW and t2m all over again... MW to see if she'll really keep her #1 spot, and t2m because of the low sales. Unless her weekend sales really increase, I wouldn't be surprised if her sales total around 70k.

I'm not too worried about the sales. Nowadays, I think Ayu's just releasing music to release it, and she's definitely focused more on touring. But, based on the sold out concerts, of course that would be something she would focus a bit more on.
