Humming 7/4 question

Was Humming 7/4 really written in 7/4 time? If not, what time was it written in?

^ That thread doesn't really seem to have a conclusion though o_O Seems everyone got lost near the end.

Anyway, I was a former music major, and one of my friends is still a music major...I made her listen to the song to confirm it, and it is in fact written in 7/4 time.

Well, I recalled some bits of conclusion floating around that thread...well it's some corroboration nonetheless.

Well there is something called the "hamming 7/4"-code. I think that's the closest link to the song's title there is.

thank you very much soysaucestar, that's exactly the kind of answer I was looking for! ^__^ I did check that thread, and like you said, there wasn't a solid conclusion, so I decided to make this.

thanks for your help!

Your friend thought it was in 7/4 time? o_O I'm not a music major, just a fan, but I've been studying music as a hobby my whole life and it isn't written in 7/4. The intro is in 6/8 until its last 2 measures when it's 8/8 like the chorus, and the verses are 4/4. I'm trying to count 7 and it's WAY too awkward. It doesn't work.

As unlikely as it is, perhaps the title IS just a pun on "hamming 7-4", since the lyrics do deal with communication. Just music-based communication instead of computer and phone communication.

^ She said it was for the most part in 7/4. I've tried counting 7/4 in other pieces I've played before and it's just ridiculous to count....usually you have to count it in different patterns anyway (all depends on how the conductor conducts the piece).

I count 14 beats for the repeating guitar bit, so I'll agree with most of it being in 7/4.

Uh... it seems likely it would be in 7/4, but I'm no judge at all of this, hehe.

I've only heard, in some previous discussion on the exact same subject, that the explanation is "she's humming/singing to a 7/4 beat...", I have no clue myself though.

About the hamming 7/4, I don't think it's got any connection at all to this song.
