^ well, she did manage to get it together, but if you listen carefully, after the mistake, she messed up a whole lot and was offtune compared to the vocals she was singing with

Just me, being late, but for Audience one, I think that it's just that because she didn't have backup singers, her backup singers always sing. But since this is her 6 years ago also, she sang with her own voice/sorta reduced vocals...I guess that could be lipping

Well, she'd sound funky if there weren't any backing vocals.. and since now she has her own team of backups, she doesn't need the backup vocal tape. :O

I think that's not a real sung one
There's microphones that don't pick up the sound of your breath, just like there's microphones that reduces unwanted noise or the sound of the blowing wind.

Very important fact indeed.

I don't understand where people are getting the HAPPY ENDING stuff. In the CD version she takes a breath before singing the last line of the song. In AT05, I don't hear a breath. Am I just being TOO observant?

As people have said before in this topic, it's probably just one line. When the dancer is carried away and Ayu acts shocked, she sings a line which has an echo. People say this line was lipsynched, because it's too hard for her to act and sing at the same time like that, and also because she would have had to remove the echo.

This is an interesting topic, I never knew she used a backing tape during tv performances. I'm glad she doesn't do it anymore, though. But I am really convinced she is lip synching Theme of A-nation (or at least a part of it), because the movement of her lips and the sound just don't add up.

We can't be sure of that, hehe, but it seems she isn't. She didn't do it often back then, maybe she does it now and then today aswell?

I don't think she does though.

It's a for sure thing. I had read a review a long time ago of someone who went to the concert and said that she was out of breath durring Angel's Song. So when it came time to release the DVD, Avex, simply removed the audio track and put in a new one.

I dunno, but during "oursleves" when she tried dancing a little bit I can hear her clearly tired and breathless and it sounds not so good as "ANGEL'S SONG", anyway...

I actually give her credit for not lip-synching during some songs like Real me. I've tried dancing and singing that song at the same time, and it's no slice of apple pie.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, and this probably doesn't make a big difference, but I've seen some performances (well, only one) where you could tell she was lip-synching. If you watch the end of her "I am..." performance at Arena Tour 2002, you can tell she's lip-synching the last lines. I'm not trying to say I'm the greatest "Ayu observer", but I'm just putting it out there. I guess they just wanted to keep the "computerized" voice at the end of the song.

^They often keep those "computerized" voices, during arena tour 2005 and 2006 she didn't pretend to mimic to those parts though. I didn't check the performance you mentioned so I can't know exactly what you mean, but remember that in this thread it was discussed a lot about that we cannot judge if she is lip synching by looking at the DVD, because the DVDs can be edited.

OMG that seasons performances was full on lip synched!
i didnt think i would see the day that she would lip synch a performance...

i know! maybe someone just dubbed the video over. i actually have boa's dakishimeru video at kouhaku 20052-2006 which has had the sound dubbed over. i know this because i have the normal version as well.
!!! one more thing, there was no appluase at the end of the performance! so thats even more of a chance that the video has just been dubbed over

^If Ayumi lip-synching is something that make you feel uncomfortable, understand that it is not something uncommong among artists. Well, in Japan it is, in Europe it's more common to lip-synch than to sing live.

My guess is that there was probably some reason to her synching that performance, soare throath, a cold. The reason I guess like this is because it is so very uncommon for her to lip-synch and there's always the possibility it actually is a new track put straigth over the original. Maybe she performed it live on the show, but it was replaced by the audio track later on TV?

Or she simply did lip-synch, one single time.

I think that every music star lip-synchs sometimes but ayumi doesn't do it a lot. When she does though, it is fairly obvious...
