*Sakurazaka46 is a rebrand of Keyakizaka46, who performed at the Kouhaku for four times before rebranding earlier this October.

BABYMETAL is a huge addition, Mr.Children a huge re-addition. AKB48, on the other hand, is a huge omission (but given the COVID impact, there's no good reason why they should be in - AKB48 is 'girls you can meet' concept idols, alongside the Sakamichi groups, but AKB48 is heavily impacted and they don't have any good thing to show off, so it's pretty much sense but it could be the end of an era or something, first time since 2008 the Kouhaku will be without AKB48 proper). Ikimonogakari is also missing.

Kouhaku hasn't been that great the last few years imo

Surprised a few artistes are not invited back especially since this year are their respective different milestone anniversaries :

- Koda Kumi (20th) ; but she has to do a countdown live on the same day :s
- Hirai Ken (25th)
- V6 (25th)

Real happy for Fukuyama Masaharu-san though . This year's his 30th anniversary & it was great to see him perform on TV numerous times the last few days to promote his upcoming new album especially since he does not usually perform on TV often , same with B'z & GLAY

I wonder how ratings will be like for this year's Kouhaku with this being ARASHI's last participation

LDH used to dominate , maybe they will be invited back next year

Lastly I used to support GReeeeN , curious how they're going to perform especially since they said a long time ago they would show their faces once all the members graduated from dentistry school but that has not happened up to now :s
