[2006] Ayu X Utaban

As a majority of us knows...Ayu's performance for A Song for XX (Utaban 010329) was her last appearance on Utaban. Word has it that it is because she's offended by the hosts...but does anyone really know the reason?

I didnt know about this, that's interesting..

I did read about Morning Musume being guests at Utaban, and they offended several of the girls, and one girl almost cried. Calling them fat, big eaters and horrible singers... Seems like Utaban is like a TV-show where the guests are insulted on purpose, for the audience to enjoy it

I had listened some about it.. I think that too... UTABAN is morea show than a music programme. They usually make hard jokes to the guests... and thats not good. I dont rely like that programme...

yea I watched several Gackt performances on Utaban and I did watch the little talks just before too. They seem to offend MANY artists....just for fun....just to make the other people laugh

well the beginning she seems pretty confused, but after that, she didn't look so mad. I don't think it's this one

Yes that´s the one.
Perhaps she only stayed friendly and smiling because to be nice and she don´t want to be like a Diva or something, don´t know.

yea I guess it was because she was on TV.

I think because some of the artists are so young when they go on, they get more offended...although sometimes the hosts are rather mean. But overall, I don't think they're too bad, just sometimes.

I loved the Utabans with Morning Musume... I always thought they were very funny o.o; Much better than the regular boring music shows with little humor.

In this one.. I don't think Ayu seems that upset. I'm surprised though, I thought she would've been on Utaban more. Maybe she really did get offended and didn't want to be teased anymore? Hmm.

Actually I always thought the presenters from Hey!x3 were really more rude on some occassions especially the Bobby episode.

I didnt know that..so its about 5 years she doesnt go on utaban? wow...

Utaban is hosted by comedian Takaaki Ishibashi and by SMAP member Nakai. Just like with Hey! Hey! Hey!, since there is a comedian hosting, it's expected that they would make fun of their guest. If you go on the show, you know it's going to happen.
It's only speculation that she was offended and therefore won't go on the show. Part of it may also be image control. Ayumi doesn't book her own guest appearances, someone else does. That person may not want her to go on Utaban for whatever reason. In a separate issue, Ayumi used to go on many more music shows in her past and now doesn't have as much variety in her appearances (probably because she doesn't need to as she is established as a top artist).
