pieces of SEVEN and Treasure Island?

does the name of the interlude 'pieces of SEVEN' have anything to do with when the parrot in Treasure Island said 'pieces of eight'?

never read it, just heard the quote from the book on TV.

Because in the last movie they had something similar: the seven pieces of eight, I think, used to release Calypso.

I just thought it had something to do with her song LOVE 'n' HATE, because pieces of SEVEN comes right after it and in LOVE 'n' HATE Ayu counts up to seven then goes to zero.

while you're at it, since I don't have or ever want to use twitter, can you ask her what "Load of the Shugyo" is supposed to mean?

^Doesn't everyone already knows what does "shugyo" means and why does "load of the Shugyo" makes sense? "Shugyo" means "hard training" or something like that, so, it's "load of the hard training"... "Load" is specially on context for being a videogame themed album

Some of Ayu's interludes like "Wonderland" and "Catcher in the light" are titled after literature references... So, I wouldn't be surprised if more of them are =)

Really ? Could you explain where does Catcher in the Light's name come from please ? I'm really interested !
Well, about Pieces of SEVEN... I always thought it was because of the countdown in Love'n'Hate, just before, which stop at SEVEN. I don't know if my english is clear enough

I can only guess you mean Catcher in the Light is a reference to Catcher in the Rye? I hope not because I hate that book haha.

^Well, sorry, but, yeah XD Catcher in the Rye...

And considering even the music itself, I would say Wonderland refers to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland ^^ But it's just me :B

"Pieces of Eight" was a term reffering to the Spanish dollar, a currency used by the Spanish starting in 1497. Since the Spanish owned the Carribien, this is why the term comes up in pirate lore, as Pirates generally robbed the Spanish (sometimes under the orders of the British Crown). The terms connection to pirates can actually be traced back to Treasure Island.

Likely, though, this was more of a play on the "Seven" that both LOVE 'n' HATE and Days contained, rather then a historically based idea though

This is probably really stupid on my part but I thought of it as a reference to Dragonball when I first saw the title, I mean there are 7 Dragonball right? Though its odd to call the 7 Dragonball pieces so its probably not actually referencing to that, still it was the first thing that popped into my head, which is probably due to the fact that I'm a big fan of the anime, I used to watch it all the time when I was younger.

I can't remember where but I'm sure there a thread on here about it. But on the track list it comes after Love 'n' Hate which if you listen to it it counts up to 7 and then goes to 0, which someone speculated that it refer to her relationship with Tomoya Nagase whom she was in a relationship with for 7 years and it ended with nothing. So the Pieces of Seven would be the pieces of the seven years they were together? Which links well to Day if what people speculate about the song and PV being about her past relationship is true.

Ahaha

This is an interesting discussion.

Pirates got the term from Treasure Island, for sure, though.
