Those black & white shots in the booklet somehow remind me of LOVEppears. Aren't LOVEppears pictures beauty shots as well? Besides having the "thread" connected all over.

Man back when I was still in Uni every Tuesday I'd go to Tower Records and peruse the new releases. Feels like forever ago now *nostalgia*

And yeah. I suppose LOVEppears is the same way. Shocking cover with tame booklet shots. And the thread wasn't a "new" idea. Weren't some of the singles from that era (pre-album release) connected with a thread? Maybe I'm wrong lol

I think it's probably The iDOLM@STER that might get #1 as they're really popular and they can sell when comes to singles . I don't know for albums

Another is probably Ohara Sakurako . Not so sure if Kis-My-Ft2 will stay at #1 again for their new album though

Daaaamn...I wish those displays for the new album would still be up next week when I'm in Tokyo, but I doubt it. Oh well, at least I'll still be able to buy my copies there!

The fact that the thread was included WAS enough to elevate the photo shoot though, plus the light blue concept color & the text treatment on the track numbers actually gave the album a pretty unique look. The photos in MADE IN JAPAN are just fashion photos & poses, and the poses chosen appear to be meaningfully matched up to the songs they accompany in the booklet, but there was no extra effort put into art direction (as usual, sadly... I haven't been happy with the concept behind an Ayu album booklet since probably MY STORY, and even then the choice to put text directly on top of the photo on the Credits page just.... that turned out so unreadably bad. lol)

The thread wasn't new as of LOVEppears, but it started back with "TO BE" and carried through all the singles, which was really cool. Each single between "TO BE" and "A" had its own identity and concept but they worked the thread into all of them, which made it feel like Ayu really did have an endgame with it. The fact that there's a blue line/thread going through the LOVEppears booklet, with that thread being shown going through all the singles & then leading to Ayu's signature, was a pretty solid and meaningful payoff.

I was counting for something meaningful with "A One" booklet. This one seems to be like continuation (pretty similar photoshoot). No rope-related pics... oh well.

The team ayu pictures are pretty but it looks so out of place with this album. Like those shots could be for a completely different release! There is very little cohesion at all and it really waters down the impact of the entire concept, if you can even call it one.

Such is life but once again it always comes down to missing the boat on potential.
