ive never thought about the fact that Love songs didnt had a promo tour, considering that the current tour isnt promoting the album... So we guys must celebrate cuz without much promotion (only mags and some a few tv perf.) the album sold almost 300k!!

Actually, i think tour doesn't have any strong effect on album sales! TV promotions and magazine covers( maybe)'re things that really affect!

Yep, Rock'n'Roll Circus album stopped charting just before its tour started and the album never came back to chart.

It's interesting to see how little touring does for Japanese album sales... in the West even one performance is often enough to bring an album back to the top 100, or even top 30 if it's a big show. Such a shame.
Anyway, I agree that this K-Pop domination is starting to be a bit "eh", but I don't agree with the sentiment that "look at what music has become". If you listen to these statements, you'd think music can ONLY move in a downwards spiral, since fans of the 50s hate everything afterwards, but also fans of the 70s, yet there's STILL good music around. Try and look past the Idol domination and you'll find plenty of great music ; ) |

^ I agree. There is still good music to be found, but the current situation we have now isn't called "idol domination" without a reason And there is a lot of truth to what some people have said about the music those idol bands sell.

Oh definitely, I thoroughly agree, and it can annoy me to no end sometimes! Still, I try and ignore it and look past it, since it'll most likely just be another phase in music that passes, like all others.

^ it has already been announced last night -> Kana finished her first week at #1 with 178k
@Nackar - I think so too, even though the idol groups, especially the male ones have always been trendy, the girl groups which seem to be all the rage atm have all had generally shorter life spans. |

That is amazing! Especially since that means Kana's physical sales peak has already passed and her career span is only like half of Ayu's. But Im sure she's selling extremely well digitally so we'll take what we can get~

Yeah, she's 22...I think she has the potential to do well - one of the "modern girls" today.

That's what I thought too. And Sankyu, Love will surely outsell Love songs in the long run. Still considering that Kana's prime didn't even last more than 2 years, I wouldn't expect her to reach Kumi's level of fame, let alone Ayu's.

Haha, no offense, but it seems people already know for sure her career will keep on dropping. Everyone has a completely different career path, of course. Ayu debuted big and kept going up, then slowly and surely going downward, although always selling good. Namie debuted HUGELY, slowly went down, and came back hard. Koda was a nobody the first few years, became ENORMOUS, then also slowly started going down.
We can't tell what Kana's career will look like. She might only go down from now on and become a no one, she might come back hard with her next album and break an album. Only in about 5 years can we give some sort of indication on whether or not she'll be this era's "Ayu" or "Amuro" or "Kuu". |
