CDL 2005-2006 Framerate?
My memory of the end of 2005/beginning of 2006 isn't very clear--CDL 05-06 seems to me like it was filmed at a higher frame rate than Ayu's other concerts, and if memory serves its the only one of her concert releases that has that "smooth" quality to it. Is the frame rate actually higher? If so, was the reason for that ever discussed in like, liner notes or something? I'm watching it right now and the difference is so jarring, lol.

I thought it's just me but I noticed this difference as well.
I hope someone can explain this as well, at first I thought maybe during that year, there's a new camera technology or something so they decided to use it?

Yeah, the show is at 30 fps like soap operas, some TV lives, and home video rather than 24 fps like movies, TV shows with higher production values, and like most of her concerts.
I don't think it's mentioned anywhere actually... it was definitely shot at a higher frame rate. It WAS probably a creative decision - the video crew wasn't different from her usual crew - perhaps to make the concert look more "live" when you watched at home or on TV. I'm honestly not sure why she doesn't do this more often, if I'm being completely honest. I like the "rock show" quality it has as a result.

Thanks for the answer! I don't know how to check it.
I enjoy the first half (STEP you, all the way to Because of You, in which it has an explosion that seemed different tham any others ayu has done, probably because of the DVD quality) so much, simply because it's very smooth. I really hope she will do this again in the future.

Thanks for clearing that up, Deli! There's a moment in AT2005 where the framerate appears to switch to 30fps when they go to a certain camera angle and then when it goes back to a different camera, the framerate is back to 24. So weird
I actually prefer the 24fps. And those TVs that have become popular the past few days where they try to make everything you watch "smoother" by screwing around with that stuff are the bane of my existence |
