^I don't burn DVDs because it's annoying. To me it's easier to get a big avi file (meaning high quality video) and watch it with VLC Player

oh how i wish that was true! i can't think of any other reason, honestly, haha. but regardless, i'm just glad utada's doing something productive-ish, at least. better than nothing at all.

really? well, that's...reassuring, right? i've also just realized that next month will actually be one year since she's announced this hiatus (i remember it being posted last august). one year already! sadly this hiatus isn't that short. i'm sure 3 or more years is gonna take awhile. but for some reason, i feel like we'll get something in less than 5 years from now. just wishful thinking, i guess.

Just after her hiatus, a documentry was released:

The Japanese TV station NHK premiered a documentary about Utada on January 15, 2011. Titled Utada Hikaru ~今のわたし~ (Utada Hikaru: Ima no Watashi)

There she stated she would continue writing music. So I'm hopeful. Besides, she still has a contract to fulfill.

Omg....I was just thinking, how awesome would it have been if Namie had collaborated with her for her Checkmate! Album?

Totally just a dream of mine...but yeah haha.

PS: Arashi no Megami .....listening to that song again just reminded me why she's my favorite J-Pop artist lol.

I think her contract with EMI is for another 2-3 albums? I didn't read anything about renewing or signing up for another contract, but I do remember reading that her contract extends past her hiatus. It's like the contract is frozen whilst she's not making music and then when she next releases music, it's used again. Like if she had a contract for three years in 2010; it'll still be three years from she's next active.

That would be terrible, imo. There styles are completely different and their voices don't mesh well together. That's the thing about the powerhouse J-Pop artists is that they all have unique voices and styles to their own - I have a hard time even thinking what a collaboration between any of them would be like.

You're right. I'm not sure how that new contract effects her Japanese music, but I know that she signed one with EMI for her future English music. She was like "FUUU" to IDJ after Utada the Best.

The contract, If I'm not wrong, gives more freedom to her between languages and from now on, her works on english or japanese will be released under "Hikaru Utada" name.

^ They'd probably be tagged under Utada Hikaru...because when she performed her English songs at Utada United 2006, they were tagged under "Utada". Even on the DVD cover it said "Kremlin Dusk (Utada)" for example.

However, it was recorded by a non-official source, so I'm not sure it would be bad to post it there?
