"beloved" is defined as "dearly loved" and is a synonym of "dearest" which has the definition of "Loved and cherished"
However, "dear" and "dearest" can be applied to many things, not just human relationships. e.g. That watch was near and dear to my heart. On the other hand "beloved" is rarely used other than in the context of a deep loving relationship. Personally, it sounds weird when you say "my beloved friend" , rather "my dearest friend" sounds more appropriate ..."beloved" sounds better when you are talking about someone who is your soulmate, the one you love deeply -> "my beloved husband" "My dearest husband" would be a step down in emotional level I would think. Sorry if that was confusing. edit: Actually if you had used "my love" instead of "my dear" it would have sounded just as good and have a deeper meaning. but meh..it's all good hehe Last edited by jayx8318x; 3rd September 2005 at 07:44 PM. |

I don't know... Some of the translation just doesn't seem right... I also think that the last parts of the few ending choruses are not "nokotteru kara" but "mukou teru kara." That would make more sense... and you can't really tell what she's saying... nokotteru kara is like "remains from"... which does not make sense when compared to "shines from beyond" (mukou teru kara). Eh.. We'll be able to tell when she performs it and we can all read the subtitles.
I did my own translation (quite similar), but had some troubles in some parts. This is what I came up with... Smiling for the last time (Saigo ni kimi ga hohoende) You presented something directly to me (Massugu ni sashidashita mono wa) It simply exceeded beauty (Tada amarini kirei sugite) I couldn’t endure it and tears overflowed (Koraekirezu namida afureta) That day surely the two of us (Ano hi kitto futari wa) Touched love (Ai ni afureta) We discovered (Watashitachi wa sagshiatte) --this part seems a bit strange to me-- Occasionally I lost sight of myself (Tokini jibun o miushinatte) Eventually to find [no nara] (Yagate mitsukeatta no nara) What kind of conclusion waits [ite mo] (Donna ketsumatsu ga matte ite mo) --"ite" is like "to be" and "mo" is like "also" but I couldn't make sense of it... so yeah.-- Fate [to iu] unexpected (Unmei to iu igai) There is nothing in the other place. (Hoka ni wa nai) La la la la la la la la la la La la la la la la la la la la You began a trip into that sky (Kimi ga tabidatta ano sora ni) The star was bright and kindly shone on me. (Yasashiku watashi o terasu hoshi ga hikatte) Stay by my side, my beloved. (Soba ni ite aisuru hito) Crossing over time, exchanging form (Toki o koete katachi o kaete) For two people yet seen the future is here. (Futari mada minu mirai ga koko ni) Yes, in this way it shines from beyond. (Nee konnanimo mukou teru kara) Stay by my side, my beloved. (Soba ni ite aisuru hito) Crossing over time, exchanging form (Toki o koete katachi o kaete) For two people yet seen the future is here. (Futari mada minu mirai ga koko ni To shine from beyond. (Mukou teru kara) Believe in me, my beloved. (Shinjite aisuru hito) You live inside of me (watashi no naka de kimi wa ikiru) therefore from now on directly ahead (Dakara kore kara saki mo zutto) I will never say goodbye. (Sayonara nante iwanai) That day surely the two of us (Ano hi kitto futari wa) Touched love (Ai ni afureta) I put some things in [] b/c I can't make out where they would belong or what they would mean. It's the smaller words that are problematic... Anyway, it's not too different from masa's, but this is probably a bit more direct of a translation. The English and then the Romaji in parenthesis are paired up. Like, "Ai ni afureta" - "Touched love" The order is different, but the amount that is said/conveyed is the same. |

The lyrics will be clear in public in several days, but I'm sure it's "nokkoteru kara". And "kara" in this case means "because". I didn't write "because", because I thought we could feel the sense of "because" without the word.

I saw the official lyrics and make a small correction.
Kimi ga tabidatta ano sora ni Yasashiku watashi o terasu hoshi ga hikatta <-- Also, I came to feel there was "a star" instead of "stars". In the sky you set out for A star shone tenderly upon me |
