I think your prediction is most accurate, although I predict for this 800k in the end. Sadly, based on the daily sales, it's going to have big drops, but still sell a lot (200k~ first day is amazing). Either way, she suprised me in a good way.

Oricon only count the first 6 days as first week. The 7th day is the second week's first day. (Second week = day #7 to #13)

I think A Complete will sell around 700k in total...maybe just a little bit more than A BEST 2 white.

No, I think it's more than that. Distance sold around 1.5 - 1.6 million copies on the first day, and I think A BEST sold around 1.48 - 1.55 million copies... Just a bit less than Distance.

No, not really. I'm referring only to those with unrealistic expectations. It's really cute how you're putting words in my mouth, but don't spout out crap that isn't true. I definitely do not think everyone in this thread is stupid.

And what's the point of a discussion board if everyone says the same thing? Five hundred posts of people saying, "OMG I PRAY YOU SELL A MILLION AYU! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!", is not discussion, it's a mindless spewing of words.

Yeah, I do think 800k could be a possibility. The sales were surprisingly good nonetheless, even at the current numbers.

But yet as you said, interesting.... Their sales are usually so close lately, right? It would be a tight race. Throughout all my years of being an Ayu fan I have never been so interested in her sales until GUILTY. If Ayu and B'z released together, I might develop a compulsion that makes me buy 10 copies a day to insure she gets the number one spot xD; lmao
B'z is probably the only musical act that I would not ABSOLUTELY HATE FOREVER for taking #1 from Ayu.

Yeah B'z are really good! But when Kobukuro took Ayu's #1 back in January, I was really upset, I didn't know who they were (It was like they came out of no where!) But if B'z took #1 for Ayu, I wouldn't be AS upset, cause I know how awesome they are! But at any rate, Ayu's #1 album streak is gone D: So I guess there's no point in worrying about anyone taking the #1 album spot from her.

I'm sorry, but I think you were just trying to be rude.

The thing about it is that you could've phrased it like: "She is probably not hitting the million guys. Sorry." instead of saying that the idea / whatever is stupid.

I mean heck, what if you said that and all of a sudden she sold a million or something? Right now the pattern is a LITTLE bit off from MY STORY's (it seems so anyway)~ Eh. I'm over it. lol.

Oh, and as for the sales.. I think whether or not A BEST 2 was released in 2007, sales wouldn't have changed. tbh, I think that this was released in order to boost her earnings for the year.

But then again she has some hugeass earnings so far. I'm gonna calculate it right now.

Mirrorcle World's "sales":
Quote:
Total Sales : 193,016 (Japan)

Total Sales : 253,209 (Avex)
Just to be "accurate" I'm gonna use avex's numbers..

MW profits: 367,153,050 yen

ASIA TOUR 2007 A ~Tour of Secret~'s "sales":
75,905 (so far)

AT07 profits: 382,561,200 yen

ayu-mi-x 6's sales:
88,585

ayu-mi-x profits: 221,462,500 yen

COUNTDOWN LIVE 2007-2008 A ~Anniversary "sales":
74,485 (so far)

CDL's profits: 375,404,400 yen

A COMPLETE ~ALL SINGLE's sales (so far):
538,876 (so far without the first day of the 2nd week)

A COMPLETE's profits:
2,317,166,800 yen

GUILTY's sales: 568,288

GUILTY's profits:
2,028,788,160 yen

Holy crap.

Total revenue gained so far for 2008:
5,692,536,110 yen = 53,840,007 USD = 38,070,999 EUR.

For any releases with two versions, I added the versions and averaged the two prices. It's INSANE how much she makes. And she only released one single!

3.66 BILLION YEN.

^ WOWED at AC and MW's profits. How can a single produce such profits that's only slightly lower than CDL & AT07's individual profit?

True, but in the end, that's what they look at for the end of the year "who sold the most?!" ORICON poll.

I'm not saying that Ayu herself is making tons of money or anything, but that avex is really making a lot of money despite the fact that she "isn't as popular" as before.

My stance on this is this:
Ayu is still a money-making diva whether people like it or not. So what if there are expenses? avex has billions and billions to spend on Ayu and she obviously brings the money back to them AND THEN SOME. It's not like they spend a ton on her and then she barely makes enough to pay for expenses and what not. We don't even know if Ayu gets paid based on her sales. All I'm trying to say is that she is NOT the dud that people think she is.

Just to define revenue for some of you who seem to confuse it (I clearly say at the bottom that the total is her REVENUE so far for 2008):

Profits or net income generally mean total revenue minus total expenses in a given period. In accounting and financial analysis, revenue is often referred to as the "top line" due to its position on the income statement at the very top. I know I stated each items' sales as profit, but whatever. Who cares if I'm technical or not. This is an AYU FORUM. Not some business course.

Thank you Truehappiness for bringing this information to our attention! :O

I wasn't aware she still made so much money for Avex! Like I said before (not sure if it was in this tread or another) I have not been intersted/thought about/ looked up Ayu's sales until GUILTY. Last I heard she was bringing in 40% of Avex's profits(?). It's nice to see that she's still bringin' in the big bucks!

That was during her peak, she is definitely not bringing in that kind of percentages anymore. And the numbers are revenue, not profits, they probably have huge expenses on creating the products/merchandise and advertising.

I think that the advertising budget probably takes the most out of the money that Ayu does make for avex. (The buses, posters, etc..) but I think even then, there's still a lot of money there.

And with A COMPLETE, they didn't have to spend much other than promotion and the use of a recording studio / engineers for Who... and paying the CD/DVD authors (the people who design / make the CD, etc). Oh, and the trip to Macau/HK or w/e too. However, it's not like it's that big a deal for Ayu to fly her staff over. lol. They got like 3 things done. Magazine shoots, A COMPLETE's shoot, and the 2009 calendar, so in the end it made sense.
