Back in the old days ayu + hikki were really popular in chinese places. I remember that when A BEST was release, arond 0.4 to 0.5 million copies were sold in Taiwan after 2 to 3 months, and the battles between hikki and ayu created lots of fights in those chinese forums/newsgroups. In 2002, when ayu visited HK it created quite a chaos in traffic. Therefore, we can't underestimate ayu's power back in the old days .

Wow! kuu's is shocking, I was expecting BEST BL to sell 350 000 in it's first week. I wonder if people are finally getting sick of her gimmicks.

isn't Bounce & Lovers are 350K limited cd..? if that's the case it couldn't sell all of them anywayz... I was expecting BL would be sold at least 2/3 of the portion.. seems like it's not going to be..

and it seems like Hikki will beat kuu this week apparently...

Limited releases never sell out when they chart on Oricon (i.e. Ayu's limited singles, Mr. Children's FAKE, Kuu's 12 singles etc.) The only exception I've seen was 'Fly high' but that was like 400 short of the 300,000 limit.

I also read that Kuu's single is also a limited release as well.

Aww, you're right, I just checked CDJapan. I was kind of hoping that her popularity was coming to a sudden end (at least her mega popularity) with the single's indicator being 8k or something, but I guess we'll see for sure during the next single's release.

For now A Best 2 is selling well, compared to other artist. But I expected so much more from her Best albums. All the hype created and then selling about 600k each...Maybe I'm expecting way too much. Her A Best 1 sold like 4 million copies, right?

A Best has sold well over 4mill, but that album was from Ayu's megapopularity period, right?

Considering the fact that the DVD versions of this album is quite expensive, and that she's not the "wow"-artist anymore, I think they've sold quite well.

They're also quite high up (and no.1 until recently) on iTunes musicstore.

i agree. i never expect ayu's A BEST 2 will sell like a million each in the beginning. I was just hoping each may sell to a point like 700 to 800K. BEST albums usually have longer legs so 700K shouldn't be a problem. I just kinda hope each will have 750K at least.. so combined sales will be 1.5 million copies, which is really good for ayu and nowaday's sales.

Well.. it's really obvious that kuu sales are declining. I remember ayu's appears, kanariya, and fly high both sold over 270K at least on the first week and eventually they all sold over 290K in a few weeks (consider they were all 300K limited release). If kuu's popularity is still really high, BUT/Aisho (150K limited release) should have a similar effect (both songs aren't on Bounce and Lovers). However, so far the combined indicator from oricon is like 28185, which is lower than expect. Cherry girl was selling bad but that was because its release date was close to Black Cherry. BUT and aisho aren't on B&L yet it sells poorly. So to me it seems like kuu starts facing a backlash.. (just like how ayu got backlash when she was overexposure..)

I don't think it's fair to say that A BEST 2 was a failure, since each album is part of "one whole.."

And to sell a million of each EASILY.. you'd have to be Mr. Children..

It's kind of like, Ayu's trying to "beat herself" in sales, when there's no real point in doing so.. The units sold TOTAL is what's important, not the amount for each best >>
