Are the tracks on A BALLADS any different from the album versions where they came from? The non-remixed ones, I mean. Like Dolls.

No, those ones are the same.

I remember reading that people complained that some of the songs were just released in RAINBOW, and they're just being repackaged in A BALLADS when it first came out. They fit the album though, imo.

i remember that too . the only reason why i bought that a ballad was to have that rainbow song complete.

I got A BALLADS because M "HAL'S Progress" and A Song for XX "RANDOMNUMBERS Session #2" were pretty damn amazing. The other tracks were nice to :3

In the end only two songs were re-recorded. They were YOU and A Song for XX. Everything else was either remastered, a new recording, or a arrangement alteration.

"Who..." was re-recorded also.

Three songs were re-recorded, the HAL's Progress stuff was a re-arrangement by HAL, and the 2003 ReBirth mixes were slight mix changes with no alterations to the arrangement. Everything else was the same as the album version.

that will be A Song for XX (030213 Session #2) , she re-recorded it on 13th Feb '03

Songs that have new mixes/re-recorded versions in A BALLADS include the following :

- appears (HAL's Progress)
- YOU (northern breeze)
- TO BE (2003 ReBirth Mix)
- M (HAL's Progress)
- SEASONS (2003 ReBirth Mix)
- A Song for XX (030213 Session #2)
- Who ... (Across the Universe)

In fact some people might consider A BALLADS to be more of a remix album since quite a lot of the songs were changed , be it vocals or melody wise

I guess whichever floats your boat

some might said it's a pure ballads album while others will said it's a remix *** ballad album ala a hybrid

for me it doesn't really matter that much , it's still a good compliation album imo
