Mirrorcle World was something new and edgy. Loved it then, still love it now.

ANother song is underwhelming overall and the melody is dull and repetitive. However I do appreciate the beauty of the instrumentals.

I like ANother song, but I prefer Why... better

The song is easy to listen to, like most people said, so it was enjoyable for me. Sounds very mainstream IMO. I really like the intro and instruments, actually. I'm not disappointed, but I'm not blown away by it either.

I'm feeling less disappointed about it being sung in Music Station now
Because of the mainstream sound, it has more appeal to causal listeners IMO.

I actually kinda love it. It's something a bit different, and the melody is really sweet/nostalgic. My main problem is the fact that Urata has the vocal talent of a rock..he sounds like a Morning Musume singer that someone took the pitch down on. If this were an Ayu-only song, it'd be AWESOME.

And to answer the previous assertions about it being the worst song/work release of her career, that way I see it, nothing can be worse than Love Songs :p

And as I listen to the song more, I LOVE THE BRIDGE!!!! This is my favorite song from the album so far. Progress sounded like a scrapped Love Songs track, Beloved is boring, and Why is just mildly interesting.

At least Love songs was well produced (for the most part), didn't sound like it was made in Fruity Loops, and had a solid theme (the covers and content actually matched :O). FIVE is just a sloppily put together, extra long single with no clear theme or direction and horrid production... being offered for the same price as a full album but with less than half the songs.

Well by Japanese standards it's still cheap... The reason it's so expensive for overseas fans has nothing to do with Ayu or Avex, but the strength of the yen haha.

Well if you look at it by the price tag alone...

But here you have 5 tracks for about 1900 yen whereas with R'n'RC or Love songs you get 15-16 tracks for 3150 yen. You're paying more than half the price of a full album for only 1/3 the content.

It's not bad. It's better than Dream on or whatever.

Just listened to it. Is this really the song people have been ranting about? It doesn't sound that bad, c'mon guys... It doesn't sound like something that suits Ayu's discography at all, but their voices sound good, it's better than Dream ON imo...it's nothing awesome, and I won't listen to it much, but it doesn't grate on the ears. I was expecting five minutes of nails on a chalkboard when I read this thread lol

I listened to it again...and well...

I like the melody of the song a lot for the most part, and I do like the feeling of the song. I mean, I AM a really big R&B fan, and I do listen to songs like this...

But I still can't get over Ayu's parts in it. They're the worst melodically, and her vibrato is so incredibly awful...she just does not go at all. ew /shudder She completely ruins the song.

I'm starting to think the mismatch between the synth track and the beat track was intentional...I mean, seriously...I doubt Nakano is THAT stupid and rhythm-challenged...I think they liked the "off" sound.

I guess I could see now though both why people hate it, and why people would like it.

If the song gets more people introduced to R&B, and maybe have a new appreciation for it's relaxing and smooth qualities...I won't be complaining.

@ emiko - I believe that you are completely right about the apparent non-cohesiveness between the synthesizer and the beat. It's a concept called "polyrhythm" that is comparable to "polyphony". It's based on sub-Saharan African music in which instead of independent melodic lines functioning together in polyphony, independent rhythmic lines are used to form the beat pattern that most often than not elide the main beats. It's the core to most rap music in which uneven vocal rhymes and a common two-bar loop add on to the polyrhythm. I can see how it may be applied to this somewhat R&B track, and personally I actually enjoy the music of "ANother song"

After listening to it for a couple of more days, I still find Urata's voice annoying . Oh wells...
