Love Songs is.....Love Songs.

Love Songs actually made me miss RNRC Ayu. Mash up album. Rock songs. Weird songs. Obligatory ballad.

Love songs was a great album! everything else after was lacklustre.

FIVE - meh... except progress the rest are not my cup of tea. not even BRILLIANTE. Cos BRILLIANTE is like caviar, you have some and you think it's so good but have more of it and you get sick of the taste. AN and beloved are some of her discography abominations with the boring melodies, bland arrangements, uninspiring vocals.

Party Queen - over-dramatic, trying too hard, bleh.

LOVE again - Ayu acknowledges she's in her mid 30s and tries to come up with a Celine Dion album but the problem is Celine obviously would wow everyone even with 12 ballads in an album cos her vocals are stellar but Ayu... hahaha.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that I concur with NINTENDO boy that post Love songs Ayu is just grating on many levels...

Love songs:
- Virgin Road and the 'shocking' marriage
- Mannie's face plastered on THREE PVs in the album

FIVE:
- duet/collaboration drama with that what's-that-guy's-name in AN and DREAM On? and JUNO
- a-nation drama because of said artistes
- divorce

Party Queen:
- trying-too-hard cover
- trying-too-hard songs
- Return Road
- Return's Road PV. Now Mannie takes 4 PVs
- fake... almost self indulgent HOTEL LOVE SONGS tour (still a to the "I am the lonely queen" segment)
- outrageous "Imma let it out cos I just got a divorce" period with Timmy

LOVE again:
- Maro
- slew of boring ballads
- rehash of the Love songs period but worse and more dramatic
- uninspiring album, era, lyrics, everything

here's hoping for a better 16th year Ayu.

I agree with what I quoted. Except BRILLANTE hasn't gotten old for me, but then again I never listened to it all that much, so, eh.

The middle section of Party queen was great, with the midtempos. The beginning is alright, the ending is forgettable.

LOVE again has some gems, but majority are songs that are good but not enough to make me listen to them unless their on shuffle or something.

I trust ayu can only go up from here.

I always feel like i'm the only one who truly loved the FIVE album, i thought all the songs were stellar and brought something different to the table. It managed to be cohesive without being too similar sounding. Beloved is a little throwaway i guess, but it's stunning nonetheless.

Party Queen is a hot mess, but at least it had something interesting and experimental going on. Some of the tracks obviously didn't work that well, but she delivered some great ballads and i'm still hooked on NaNaNa. I'd much rather have another album like that than the borefest of the decade, LOVE Again

This!

And tbh the only thing I don't really like about PQ is the cover xDD

And about the collaboration drama in FIVE, it was mostly brought up by fans. Or is there another collaboration drama I don't know of? (I'm not talking about the a-nation one). And I actually liked the collabs. I really like how Juno sounded in Why... ♥

^ yup reading back I noticed I typed that out by accident... there wasn't much drama per se on her decision to collaborate, except for reactions by the fans

I also loved FIVE as a whole. All the albums since Love songs have been great imo, just that they were a little heavy on the medium. Party Queen at least had that upbeat start, but I wish it was a little more NaNaNa and less bubbly like Party queen.

I'm really looking forward to the next album and if the latest song we've heard is a sample of what's to come~

I think I need to adopt this attitude, although I think I'd view it as it can't really get worse than Love again and You & Me a thousand times.

...if it does get worse I am done though. Really done.

With hindsight (and comparison) FIVE is good. I think it could have been better, but I'll take it over Party Queen or Love again any day.

Oh I loved FIVE.
Beloved was that tacky overdone ballad that I needed in my life.

I love Party Queen! More so than LOVE again. Right down to the Madonna inspired covers.

Five I loved Progress just a good song also Song 4 U. On Party Queen I did really like a lot of the songs off of it. But the Love Songs-Love Again era I didn't really like. The only exception is Wake me up. Its one of my fave Ayu songs.

i thought party queen was a great album, it had a lot of songs that reminded me of her earlier works that i loved, and also i was soooo happy with her vocals finally coming out of the horrible Love songs period when she sounded like she was forsing herself to sing a note *shivers* FIVE wasn't bad either, it was fine, i enjoyed the songs. I could have lived without teh duets tho, but they weren't bad. And i frankly enjoyed Love again too lol it won't be on my repeat playlist but i did like where she was with it. And i still think Missing is overrated, really, cuz Mellody had something what no other song on there had, oh and lets not forget Sweet scar ♥

Missing was one of those songs I loved at the first listen. But it become boring after a while. Also the PV makes me laugh everytime, don't know why but I find hilarious see Ayu crying in a corn-whatever-field while some dudes are jumping around. Melody wasn't anything special to me at first, but now it's one of the few songs I could save from LOVE fails again.

I think Party Queen it's a great album though. She tried something new without losing her touch. It's not above my top 5 nor it's a masterpiece compared to her older works, but it's really good indeed.

Missing had really bad mixing IMO... in fact the whole of LOVE again sounds very unpolished in a grating manner

I love everything on LOVE! Song 4 U, Missing, Melody: they all have this nostalgic, depressed, yet elegant and classy aura. Again was somehow more dramatic and forceful, while LOVE was a quiet and dignified break, even if almost everything was sorrow or sadness. I loved that! <3

This! Melody >>>>>> Missing

Missing and Gloria are the only songs that I don't play that much, but anything else on LOVE again is just ♥

Is it odd that I liked the minis by themselves, but not as a whole on LOVE again?
I think the load of ballads dragged down the songs that already existed (except for Petal).
