Namie's cd reached 272,037 now. Almost outsold Ayumi's "Love Songs" cd. Anyway, I hope it will break the 300,000 mark by the end of the week!

About "Party Queen's" sales and Ayu's overall... Nothing is over! #2 on the chart and a gold certification is still success. Extremely dropped compared to previous works but still ok. There are worse falls like Mai Kuraki, Ai Otsuka etc...

I wonder what made the single 60s70s80s so big for namie??
I mean he album before that was so low and then BAM!
I think the single and the Best album brought her back into the spot light.

Was there a lot of promotion for the single and album??
I think Ayumi's team could take a few notes on that.

It was the VS tie-in, there was so much promotion..CMs, billboards and even dolls for each PV.

2. Maybe even with no hits but multiple singles for an album it still arouse interest more than no singles at all due to tie-ins (even not popular ones) and the single songs are the most recognised or arouse interest in the public.

That's why I think kuu's JAPONESQUE sold a few thousands more than Party Queen (because JAPONESQUE had 3 singles with 6 single songs on it).

Had ayu release at least 1 double a-side physical single I think it could do some more 10,000s with just a decent tie-in.

Maybe if progress would be a single or there would be another single for FIVE it could sell around 250,000 too.
Singles or single songs give more interest towards the general public (even if it's minor) and fans to look at an album.
People are focusing too much on the physical release of a single and ignoring that in the end, is the PV, the lives, the CMs, etc that make the song a hit, not the fact that it was released on a physical copy or not...

And both FIVE and Party Queen promotional songs had PVs, were sent to radios and had tie-ins... Her digital singles even get covers, so it's possible to have some print promotion! The only missing thing was the TV lives...

Actually the BAM u mentioned had been coming firstly & quietly since 'Queen of Hip Pop'(2005), with Pink Panther as the album art theme, it was her most commercially successful effort in five years before Play was released.

Later it came a little bigger with single 'Baby Don't Cry' & then album 'PLAY'(2007). Plus 'PLAY' sales(541k) at that time weren't low at all.
So after 'PLAY', everything officially started.

I mean, it's not like her peak came out of nowhere, it did need time and a fine catalyst for long-tearm success

Yeap.. Namie's 2nd peak was showing for a while before Best Fiction... But most western people who were jpop fans in the 2000s didn't really now about her, most who knew about her just thought she was some has-been 90s singer, theyweren't following her moves and didn't pay attention until not paying attention was impossible^^

OT lol well if Ayu will heavily promote A SUMMER BEST and do a 30 days live it might change the game?

^ It may also have to do with the fact of if she wants to or not.
I think Sekio has gotten to the point that she releases music because this is what she loves to do.

Nobody was bashing her, it's just the reality. Namie is currently more popular than Ayu and Kuu, and that article just pointed out the sales. And if you get depressed by sth so trivial then you should get a life ^^

I have to disagree with this. the boom was not sudden and Namie's second peak is all the result of her hard work, effort, commitment and management & promotion team. also. she did change her composers at the time.

60s70s80s is a great single, with 3 different PVs, quite good, WHAT A FELLING is a super hit song, and New Look was really well-recieved by the Japanese, they really like the song

bringing the topic of JAPONESQUE, it sold without any promo included, fyi, if Kuu didn't get sick because of her pregnancy & cancelled it all it might have sold even more

Discrete bashing still is bashing:

"let's see if fans of u know who continue to underestimate namie"

And no no need on being so rude...

Nobody releases 1 or 2 every year new albums and 36 compilation albums in 32 years just because they love music...
