She's the "really popular" but she's definitely "popular". That's why she sells well even though there's an obvious drop in her sales. Ayu's sells have dropped drastically, but she's still extremely popular. Well, it's the same for BoA except she's not extremely popular, but just popular.

i think she is pretty popular, and i think she is very "safe"
i mean, she is popular in japan, in korea, in southeast asia, in china but her sales is really average. so she is very "safe"

BoA was really popular on 2001-2005 but now her popularity is ok, but most people in Japan knows who she is nontheless.

BoA is doing alright in Japan at the moment, as I have heard.But she's not THAT popular. At first she was though.
