Avex pictures enforces export ban on Blu-rays, DVD, and CDs

Guys... wtf...? Do I read and understand correctly? People in comments wrote they already can't order things on amazon O_O I mean...why? Isn't it a bit...mental?

Quote:
Today, select CDJapan customers checked their inbox to find a very depressing email. Publishing company Avex Pictures (owned by Avex Group) has suddenly decided to place an export ban on Blu-ray, DVD, and CDs. This means that they cannot be sold outside of Japan. Avex Pictures is responsible for publishing a plethora of popular anime including YURI!!! on ICE, ONE PIECE, and Mr. Osomatsu.
Every single online shop in Japan has to abide by these new rules. The restriction begins promptly at 6:00PM (Japan Time UTC+9) on Feburary 15th, 2017. Customer service reps from CDJapan, and other popular online shops including Amazon.jp has said they will try to fulfill as many orders as possible before the deadline. There is currently no explanation from Avex Pictures as to why they are enforcing this new rule.
It is currently unknown if the restriction will also apply to artists and movies published under Avex Pictures. A full list of the anime titles, as well as other media published by Avex Pictures can be seen here.

WHAT THE...!?

Now what? This export ban is even trickling into Kisumai releases???

How will this affect my Ayaka order - and potential future Ayaka orders??? And since this is AHS, where we talk about Ayumi Hamasaki, then what's going to happen with Ayu orders in the future???

Yeah, it's Avex Pictures, so only Anime right now.
But my heart stoppd for a moment!
I don't think Avex is going to expand that.

Arama update says anything released by Avex cannot be shipped internationally, and this includes Koda Kumi, etc.

Tried Amazon.co.jp on the Ayaka best album that I already owned, cannot ship to that address. I'm kind of concerned whether or not my Ayaka Blu-ray will be affected (I pre-ordered it as soon as possible)...hopefully things will be resolved.

But why, Avex??? This is affecting Ayu, Koda Kumi, Kisumai, SKE48, and even Ayaka orders from overseas...WHY?!?!?!?

Oh gosh, that's such a mess buisness-wise.
Why all of the sudden? Why?
Wondering how this affects sellers outside of Japan like e.g. YesAsia.
But middleman will work nevertheless as long as it's stationed in Japan.
Means it doesn't affect me directly as I'm buying my stuff mostly through middleman anyway (e.g. through the FC shops).

I cannot believe this! They are basically banning the distribution of Japanese entertainment culture overseas. What am I supposed to do now if I wanna buy an album? The only option I can think of is the use of a middleman but it means an additional charge and I'm not willing to pay like $60 for just a physical copy of an album

This is just insane. It's like encouraging people to download instead of buy things. That's crazy.

And the fact that it's so sudden with no advance notification makes it even weirder.

That's just unbelievable. I can't understand why they'd do something like that, it's like stating that Japanese music is only made for the Japanese public. They're literally ignoring the fact that their artists have a fanbase in the West and these people are willing to pay a big amount of money to import the CD instead of getting it illegally somehow. I guess they can't complain about JPS...

I just contacted CDJapan to clarify whether it's just Avex pictures releases that are being affected (primarily anime) or all releases that are distributed by Avex, such as Ayu, Koda Kumi, EXILE, Kis-My-Ft2, SKE48, Ayaka, etc.

I'll let you know as soon as I can. Maybe the Amazon blocking was an accidental mistake - blocking ALL Avex-distributed releases, anime or not (what it is right now), when they're supposed to block just Avex pictures releases (e.g. Yuri!!! on Ice)...

For example:
Speaking of JPS...open up new registrations again because of this news? But JPS doesn't have anime torrents - only J-pop (or Asian) music (although tie-ins to anime productions are there, it's most of actual episodes of anime - save for if it may involve music - that aren't on JPS)...

Holy crap! How am I supposed to buy my Namie stuff then? WTF is this!?

It's 2017, dang! This is why K-Pop is getting more popular because J-Pop is sticking to the dark ages!

Worst news ever.

Since I buy from middleman or overseas versions, it doesn't really affects me, but this is so stupid that it hurts. It's like they are saying: we don't want your money.

I buy from YesAsia so I'm hoping it doesn't affect me but I'm still angry about this given all the Avex products a lot of us will have purchased over the years and still plan on buying.

Hope my Kuu order on YA for her new albums next month aren't affected Even if they can sell for now will Avex put a stop to it if everyone floods to YA for their orders?

I think we should!

Man, this really seems like an early April Fools or something. I feel gutted because I have always supported Avex.

I honestly can't think of a valid reason why they've done this.
If they wanted to control sales so that everyone is purchasing from the same avex run shop, I could understand it (though it's stupid)--but that doesn't seem to be the case.

So, I'm baffled. Everyone spam Avex, -not- Ayu, please lol.
