CDL09-10 first day position : #2, beaten by AKB48 new DVD...(sigh..)
looks like CDL09-10 will get number 2 on weekly position, but the most important thing is the number...i hope it's still around 60-70k on the first week...

So it seems that promotion (or TV/magazine promotion) around the release date helps a bit more than singing it some time before the release.

I'm also sure that with TV/magazines it's easier to get to wider general public audiences (not by huge amounts though).
Unless if it would outsell Sunrise/Sunset. XD

Yeah it's pity, she should have got more promotion, I mean, Sunrise even had a drama tie-in, right? o.O Well I think those sales aren't bad at all, compared to other Jpop artists, they're declining, but not too bad.

Yep, I always wondered, even if the drama had an average rating if that's what helped/had a hand Sunrise become a digital hit.

Even my boyfriend (which is Japanese) watched the drama last summer and when it was the first time we talked about it was like (and he's not listening to ayu though he does like some songs of her, he really loves BALLAD!)
Me: "do you know ayu's song Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~?"
My bf: "No..."
Me: "It goes like... *starting to sing the chorus*
My bf: "Oh wait!! I know it from a drama !!! I saw last summer!"

I think will promote escpecialy the 50th single. but she could have done more to MOON/blossom promotion.

Yeah they probably keep the promo to the 50th single, she will also be less busy (before the SPECIAL FINAL).

How do you know that?

I've said it a few times before. Most of the people who buy this single are going to be devoted fans, a huge percentage from Japan would have attended one of her arena shows this year and heard MOON. Bam, you got a whole bunch of sales right there.

Magazines/TV promotion is the promotion WE see. It doesn't mean the regular joe is going to go buy her single. I really doubt the sales would have been affected much if she did a cover or two.

But you are right, Sunrise got a lot more promotion. It had TV lives, full PVs, a tie in, billboards and magazine promotion.

^ Although you know the regular joe might not go to Ayu's concert, so those who actually attend would already be planning to buy Moon/Blossom, where as perhaps that 3k difference between M/B and S/S was from S/S's drama tie in, magazine/TV promotion. I'm just speculating.

I actually believe that Sunrise/Sunset was meant to be a smash hit selling single, but the covers scared buyers away I really believe this lol

I guess that's why it did a lot better with downloads instead.



MOON / blossom is such a weak single! in terms of everything (promotion, songs (they're nothing like wowomfg), covers, pv). And yeah, I'm pretty sure that if this single is selling at all is thanks to those devoted fans and that she actually performed MOON live.
