Why only 500 posts?

I've always wondered why there is a rule of only 500 posts per thread. Is it for efficiency?

That, and also so the threads don't get too big, like fast moving threads would hit 2500 posts in a month.

If I'm not mistaken, it has to do with the server and loading time.

Yeh, i'm pretty sure a lot of it is server related, imposed because of the strain the server was under last year which cause AHS to go down for a few days. I also think it keeps thing's easier to maintain, since one huge thread of like 5000 posts would be a nightmare to go through if you're looking for something

in the kuu-chan therads it is still a lil to crowded... but it's much better after the whole "STOP SPAMMING CAMPAIGN" ... I'm so glad that it kinda cooled down, and people are only posting if they really have something to say ... but I think the Namie threads are the new Kuu threads .. it's not as bad as it was with the other threads but it's kinda starting ... well ... you can't stop the spam, can you???

Well i'm not against doing the same with the Namie threads as I did with the Kuu thread, only we don't get the complaints from the Namie ones, unlike with Kuu where we recieved many.
