Really? The only person in SMAP that I would say is horrible is Nakai. (he admits he is completely tone deaf) The rest though all sing pretty well - not like power house level, but good for their type of songs. If you are only judging them based on their performances with Ayu though, that's not really fair since I would say singing Ayu's pitch is very hard for guys.

I don't mind Tohoshinki's voices... I understand they're going through a lot so they may not be as good as they can be right now. Ayu sounds fine to me, a little rough, but I think it's all the excitement! She looks so happy

still for me, the boys' vocals are the best from any asian boybands that I've ever heard, i'm not biased but i listened to some boybands before, (i was used to be into JE's groups since i love Japanese music a lot), but none of their voices caught me, and Tohoshinki is the one and only boyband that really caught my attention.. and the longest time of me being a boyband's fan..*

probably, saying that their vocals aren't suitable for your style is much better than saying their vocals are horrible..that means many Japan artists are blind or deaf of what they're hearing haha lol

hmm i don't know, i still can't judge by the video news..i'll wait until the actual aired video..
but i have listened to some of the a-nation fancams of Tohoshinki, they still sounded great, specially in their ballads and i'm dying to hear Ayu's fancams but there seem to be none~

and i kinda agree with someone here who ever said that it's a summer event and not completely a concert, so i think they sound not good is excusable, because it's liked summer party... and they need to shout and scream with the fans.. not necessarily to deliver great vocals~ ya know, all of the artists have been so stressed with all the hectic works, so i think why not enjoying yourself more with the fans... it's only can be done in a-nation stage... well it's from my POV though~

I think that vocally DBSK are by far the best boyband, none of the JE bands come even close to them. SMAP guys sound ok, but imo when you put them next to DBSK they sound pretty weak.
