She probably sold around 5K the days at #4, so she'll probably sell like 40K-45K this week!

Knowing our luck for odd numbers, it'd be just under 50K

Not trying to be mean here, but are you ever satisfied? All I ever see from you are pessimistic posts about how dissappointed you are with the sales or how you're hoping she'll sell even higher >.<

yeah really , some people on here are so disillusional . They cannot accept the fact that physical CD sales are droppping each year & this curse more or less affects everyone for me as long as Rock'n'Roll Circus gets #1 (which it already did) , it's good already ! ayumi has enough $ in the bank to cover up for life if not for eternity

We really should know that this is no longer the era of "she's going to sell a million of a physical album" - already we're on the digital age, we've got music downloads, iPods/iPhones, and many people want this in digital form (also for environmental reasons), so I think the future or releasing could be more into the digital form...
We've already seen last year's album NEXT LEVEL released in a USB drive with the booklet inside the USB besides the 320kbps MP3 songs and its related MP4 music videos, so maybe these content could even be paired up with digital albums in the near future. But for right now, she sure is still running strong, despite her age of 31 and only one effective hearing ear. I hope she can still stay running strong until at least her 50th single, in which at that point not only it is a monumental mark that she makes 50 singles in her career, but as long as the #1 singles streak continue up to the 50th single, she would reach the most lucrative record for number of consecutive #1 singles, which is still held up by Seiko Matsuda. We still believe that she can continue run well, despite the different strategies over the years - eight years ago she was a "commercialized" icon, with the "H" single reaching one million, but today she is part of a digital revolution which really declined her sales numbers dramatically in physical form but also increased her presence in digital sales, English language, and online appearances, including the introduction of a MySpace page and a Twitter account to connect to fans around the world outside of Japan. (The fact was that iPods and iTunes appeared sometime during 2001-2002, but it would take some time for the popularity to grow, and already the popularity is very high, so it seems like that as there is steady increase in the number of iPods, then there sees a steady decrease in the number of physical sales for most artists. And with the changes in format from just CD-only into two versions (CD-only and CD+DVD), as well as her feelings that she felt more of a "product" rather than a "person", and a feud with her producer Max Matsuura, as well as all kinds of other secrets, lost of hearing at a time Kobukuro's "Tsubomi" won the Japan Record Award that boosted "5296" sales and really put Ayu's "GUILTY" into the #2 spot, as well as various competition among other artists, such as Shuchishin and even Arashi (despite they have not released single vs. single or album vs. album), it really shows that the sales are not at an all-time record high.) (I'm not sure about this, but the reasons why Arashi has record-breaking numbers in sales of singles, albums, and even DVD sales (despite that their past singles did not reach a million; only the "All the BEST! 1999-2009" best album was a million seller) are because of two things: a very large, crazy and satisfied fanbase compared to Ayu, and I don't know about this, but Arashi's releases (along with other Johnny's artists) are not available in iTunes because of Johnny's Internet regulations. I don't know if this is accurate, but if anybody knows, please tell me...) |
