But, you know, it sold 50% MORE copies than Winter Diary... and this had nothing new on it. TV Promo FTW!

I wouldn't chalk it up entirely to TV promo. She could put effort into getting the same type of exposure for her next release, but it wouldn't increase her sales by 50%. This was a mix of various factors, which I'm sure the TV promo helped to draw forward.

Agreed. The most important thing my stats professor taught me all those years ago is that correlation does not equal causation. There are so many other factors at work that you can't look at the numbers and definitively say "omg look at what those three minutes on TV did for her sales!".

We won't get the full figures from the show venue sales...

You're taking the numbers too literally. Of course there is no guarantee of a 50% increase in sales if she does TV Promo. However, a release that would generally not have this kind of attention was certainly helped by Ayumi's performance on television, which is something she didn't do for Winter diary.

Is it responsible for all 15k? Of course not, and I didn't suggest that either. But there is not and has never been a correlative relationship between sales and media promotion. Media promotion certainly does affect sales in measurable ways. So, sure, it's not everything but you're suggesting that musicians go through all the organizing, planning, and rehearsal work over and over with no real expectation of better sales.

Still, a good amount can come from each venue if they sell well there.

Yes but they really need to have a big stock because even if she sell 1000 copies in the first date for example only 250/300 copies will count so ... It's another weakness of Oricon ...
