Ayu/jpop/visual kei cd's in Oxford/London?
Topic says it all.
From March 1st to March 7th I'll be in England, and I would like to buy some music. Anyone knows of such a place in London or Oxford? Possibly also a store that imports japanese psp/ds games? |

From my experience HMV dosent have jpop cd's but in London there is something called the Japan Center which sells japanese cd's etc |

Japan Centre (Piccadilly Circus) - This is definitely one of the best places to go. The cd's are brand new and legitimate [look for the avex symbol]. You can also find calendars, magazines and more. Expect to pay up to £30 for a cd, £10-15 for a calendar, £7 for a magazine.
+ I found Rainbow, Duty, (miss)undersood, a-ballads, a song for XX and A best at Virgin Megastore also at Piccadilly Circus. (+ her German singles) A great store with lots of asian and international music! |

Don't even bother buying anything from a shop here, it'll be ridiculously expensive. I live in London and I go into Oxford/Piccadilly Circus just about every other weekend and I check in HMV/Virgin/etc. all the time and the CD's are always £30+. I bought A BEST from Virgin Megastore and it wasn't even the proper version, it was the overseas versions or something and didn't come with the sleeve (it was in a jewel case and I'm very disappointed because I payed £30 for it).
I can't say that I've ever found any merchandsise other than CD's, but if there is any then I expect the price will be ridiculously marked-up too. Basically - don't do it unless you want to be enourmously ripped off, just get it online. You could get two online for the price of one in the shops and you can be sure you'll get the correct version.

How come I never knew about Virgin selling stuff in London... Admittedly I'm not in London much
But yeah, enjoy England, the most un-Japanese place ever! |

^Me neither, I just bought all my CDs when I was in the Japan Centre when I was in London and got totally ripped off. How come the mark up is so high anyway?

I go to piccadilly cicus all the time and i have never seen any jpop cd's in any shops except for one time about a year ago, lol. the virgin opposite the trocadero had it about a year ago, it was l'arc~en~ciel's AWAKE album and DO AS INFINITY's NEW WORLD album was there. They were both £30 and i just couldnt justify it. They are both awesome albums but i can get it cheaper online like edgefusion said. i go to the Japan centre like every other weekend and i have never heard of them selling cd's though. i know china town like the back of my hand and you will only find chinese cd's there, and even now some of the shops got closed down there is less choice for even that. So yeah, sorry there is hardly any (if at all) jpop stuff in london, but if you want anime or manga there are some places.
lol just realised i missed you by a day, sorry i am tired Last edited by devilayu; 9th March 2007 at 03:32 AM. |
