Official Namie Amuro Discussion Thread

I just received her 181920 & Films yesterday. I heard its one of her best albums, and everyones been saying how great it is, so i gave it a try. I listened thru it a few times, but none of the songs really attracted my attention, except Body Feels Exit, and Can you Celebrate....:-/..so..i guess im asking, whats so special about that album??

LOL, my thoughts exactly when I first heard it... It's not my style of music, it takes awhile to getting used to... So maybe it will grow on you, maybe not.

You have to look on the background of japanese music the moment this album was released. You can't listen to it thinking it was an album released this year. At that moment EUROBEAT was huge success and a lot of pop artists used to sing in that genre. For that I have to admit that her EUROBEAT stuff was good

aww.. that's too bad ;.; I loved that album! Even if the music does sound dated. A lot of songs on it sound better than what's being released today in jpop anyways~

When i first started listening to this album i did really like it too, but after a while the songs grew and i started liking the album. In this album there some songs that namie sung when she was 18 / 19 & 20. So like Impactbreaker said "You can't listen to it thinking it was an album released this year."

181920 would probably be the only Namie album worth getting IMO... I don't really like her middle-career stuff... And the STYLE singles are worth getting... Not so much the album...

TK's productions in general take time for me to like... I used to think STYLE was much better than any of Namie's older TK-produced songs... Even with globe, the only song I like is DEPARTURES, all their songs are just weird. I don't really think TK is that good a producer...

it's not for everyone, it's from a time where Jpop was literally Japanese pop and was more Japanese and less western. I really hated Namie when I first heard Body Feels EXIT, i thought she couldn't sing, but the song is so damned catchy that soon I knew all the lyrics, and it was my fave song by her. it was the only song i'd heard by her then ^^;;;.

Her best original albums are Concentration 20, which is not for everyone, many people don't really like this album, but IMO, it's her best. The other of her best albums is GENIUS 2000, a great mix of jpop with some r&b flavour thrown into the mix.

But then i downloaded concentration 20, and i was like "well...it's ok...". I dunno. But I really like Style. So Crazy... <33333 That is the hot **** right there.

I take it you received it as in you brought it? Never buy somethings based solely on other people's opinions if you aren't confident in it =_=

Personally, I DLed '181920' and couldn't listen through the whole thing. The DVD might still be fun though.

You should have gotten 'LOVE ENHANCED Singles Collection' much of her recent hits are included and even resung/remixed or enhanced and to me is a lot better than 181920 which is still pretty good but the style is quite different.

I've only seen 'a walk in the park', it's very 90s, but I think it's kinda cool

Though her weird tan makes her look like a yummy chocolate Fran...
