I understand only couple of words so.. I'm with ya. :P
Her voice is perfect etc. etc., so it doesn't matter to me. Of course I read english lyrics sometimes.

I was in the same boat as you 5 years ago but now I can understand most of Ayu's songs

me too ....i don understand japanese at all but still enjoys her music. i don see the problem...except on her concerts, i just wish i understand what they are talking during the "chat session".

back in 2001 when i just like ayu's music. i don't understand a word. i depend on the chinese translations. then, i learn japanese a little by little, through anime, songs, dramas, mangas......now i can understand half of her songs. but i enjoy ayu's music best because of the emotions she put in hers songs, which left me a strong impact.

well, no singers had that power on me yet.

My thoughts exactly! Except for a couple "tourist" phrases, and a few words, I don't understand much japanese, though I would love to take a course at a university. I think that would make me love it that much more!

Yeah, I'm learning Arabic and Spanish but I only really speak Englsih, Ayu's songs are just really catchy and I love her voice, especially her newer stuff. But I've listened to her so much that I know a lot of Japanese words now and understand a lot of what she says.

I know some japanese but i don't understand much of what Ayu sings. I read translations to my favorite songs though. I feel like translations don't really do the lyrics justice, though, since it's so hard to translate perfectly especially when dealing with emotional songs.

Same here. :D I have been wishing that I knew Japanese too.
But just watching and listening to Ayu is great too. :D

It's an strange feeling, when you don't understand the lyrics of ayu, you imagine how they are for the music and the way she sings the songs... and then you later read the lyrics and you see it was what you were thinking about! I think that's why i love ayu's music, because you understand it with your heart, and not with your mind.

AyuHamasaki01 29th March 2007 05:38 PM

Ya know, people often say that I'm sort off language machine: I speak Dutch - English - German and French and a little Japanese but I can't get a word of what Ayu's saying so I always search for english lyrics on the internet....

But I love her music and her voice

cool_kickin_dude 29th March 2007 05:55 PM

I love Ayu. She was one of the main reasons I wanted to learn Japanese. Not only is she a beautiful singer, but she kind of helps people with their problems

extepan 1st April 2007 01:49 PM

same here. i dont understand japanese, but her voice is so mesmerising that i need to listen to her!

i like ayu because she puts her heart and soul into every assignment. be it a song, photoshoot, recording, concert etc. and she is sincere to her fans. this can be seen from her countdown messages. i was very touched by her words in the Best of CDL countdown clip.. she is trying very hard to reach out to each and every one of us.

she is jus not any entertainer who just strive to put up a good performance. ayu does more than that and that is what i like about her. nothing else. language is definitely not a problem. translations are always there.

heyrill 1st April 2007 06:11 PM

that why i love ayu!! her voice is the only thing make me love her
