|
More great lyrics, yay
thanks masa for the translation |
thanks for the lyrics & translation!
|
concede? What kind of a word is that? Just use a normal translation of yuzuru... "I can't give that up" like maikaru's translation.
"Dareka ni kime rareta Rule" Are you sure it's kimerareta? You don't hear her sing rareta. More like naneta. "Because I was taught by you on that day that everything happens necessarily, not casually" This sentence doesn't make sense. "the Rules" Why "the" Rules? The Rules are never specified, so it should be without "the". |

She pronounced rareta a lot different than the other times she sings rareta then. And no the sentence doesn't. Explain it then. [edit:] Actually, the sentence might make sense if you look deeper into it and try to puzzle out the meaning, but why go for a sentence that badly written instead of something more easily understandable. |
Thanks, masa :D
|
Thanks masa.
The sentence makes sense hun. Translating Japanese grammer into English isn't always spot on. I think commas to seperate the clauses would help in English. I don't believe Japanese uses commas. concede is not an uncommon word...but it probably could be replaced just as easily. "Because I was taught by you, on that day, that everything happens necessarily, not casually." the necessarily and casually is a little awkward...but I don't know how much you can change because I don't understand the Japanese. |
Don't you just love how Melrose tries to shoot everything and everyone (especially Ayu) down lately? Anyhow, thank you so much for your translation masa. It's such an awesome and very strong song! :D
|
Melrose is gonna say what he's gonna say.
Everyone else always complains how they are entitled to their opinions. He can have his too. Maybe everyone is just coming out with stuff he thinks is crappy. Whatever. As long as he isn't rude and verbally abusive, it's fine. One thing I will say, there's lots of ambiguity when translating into English. Unless you have like a professional grasp of both languages, their nuances, and their slang, translations will always be a little off, or messy, too interpretive, or too literal. Masa's are superior to a lot out there. They're easy to read and they give you the basis of what she is saying. You can make it smoother from there. However I don't understand the "rareta" thing. Sounds like she's saying that to me...maybe it's just the way the song goes and she has to pronounce it that way? |
I don't see THE prob with that sentence lol .... open your eyes Melrose you will be able to understand it lol I don't hear naneta either ......
It's so wonderful how some very nice people can lose their time for fans when a single one take her/his fun to bring it down for the sake to be *****y ..... Masa don't pay attention, next time Melrose will give us the very right translation of Sparkle, with very understandable sentences .... |
*_* thanks for the romaji and the translation, masa!

i don't know japanese so i can't say if he translated everything in the best way, after all it's always possible to find a better word to use, but i trust Masa and his translations. Quote:
anyways... thank You for the awsome translation masa!!!!!!!! the song is very strong and i love the lyrics^^ |
thanks so much! been waiting for your translations :luv2

|
Wow, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TRANSLATION MASA!!!
The lyrics are so strong, magnificent. |
Thanks for translating. I just think the lyrics are OK because she reused a lot of phrases that she has used several times before. It seems like she is kind of running out of ideas to write about.
|
Oh wow. This is in the same vein as "Marionette," "connected," and "decision." I loveeeeeeee it. It's not tired or trite, not over done--I like that she actually says "rule" in the song, too.
|
yey!
*runs and sings along with the song* |

And using 'the' kind of makes the 'rules' more specified. Like 'girls are so beautiful' and 'the girls are so beautiful' may mean the same thing, but the former is referring ALL girls, while the latter refers to this group of girls whom were mentioned before, or at least clear enough to be told which girls in the context. What I guess from 'the rules' is that it's not just any rules. Obviously we can't break the rule of killing someone (okay that's a law but whatever), but we can break other rules... other more personal and complicated rules, like 'having a Blackberry is the rule to be cool now'. I think that's what Ayu was trying to sing about anyways. So in this case, 'the rules' really appear to be quite necessary... :) |
Quote:
The romanization of "R" is a little misleading, because it doesnt sounds like english r. Also to Melrose, there is no "the Rules" because "the" in Japanese doesnt exist.. There's no word like that one. So then, it's a bit weird to say. "We are Rule." "Let's destroy Rule" It makes it seem like you are gonna to talk about someone or thing, right? It's a translation issues. I agree he took a bit of liberties in the necessary and casually part.. I would say more "everything is not by accident, but is inevitable." Because he turned "hitsuzen" into an adjective by turning into "casually" But anyways, its a matter of opinions, right? Actually I really like Masa's translations always, I could always learn some english from his translations! ahaha. I could see where my english was really wrong in the translations that we put in the other forum. |
Arigatou for the translation the lyrics are great ^^
|
thankyou masa!!!
|
THANKS!! <33

Obviously I love masa's translations, too. I think they're some of the best I've seen -- they're probably some of the ONLY ones I've seen around XD. Please don't get discouraged, maikaru~ I would also like to see your interpretation on lyrics :) |
Thanks for the translations. I think everyone should be entitled to give input and offer up their own translations...but I also think if they're going to try and translate, they should be sure that they have at least a basic understanding of Japanese, right? But I think that this translation is fantastic, I see no problems with concede, it's not like it's a rare word. :P
|
niceee
they match the song & pv *-* thank you!! :D |
You are welcome. I was a bit surprised that her new song was out so early.
Thanks to Rikku411's advice, I changed several parts. the age like this --> an age like this we can't see nor touch --> we can't see or touch though cloudy everywhere --> though it's cloudy everywhere I don't want to be imposed --> I don't want to be imposed on The same old stupid Rules --> By the same old stupid Rules |
thanks for translation!
I love that song... |
thanks I love that lyrics!
|
i like the lyrics :) HoRRaY for Optimistic Songs :P
|
thanks ^-^ I love your translations and I can compare them to my own to see if I grasped the correct meaning
|
Thanks to Rikku411's advice, I changed several parts.
I can't concede about it --> I can't give way in that matter destroying the Rules --> breaking the Rules |
Thanks masa!!
Lyrics are quite good, hope that 'Sparkle' will be different though! |
love it
|
thanks for your translations! <3
|
Thank you masa for the translation.

Thanks a bunch, masa! |
Thanks for the translation :D:D:D:D
|
thanks so much!
I can only directly understand the chorus...the verses are either super deep or I'm shallow..coz how are they kinda related to "Rule" |

I don't see how reusing phrases is a bad thing since she's placed them in a different context thus changing their meaning. Throughout all these years, it's not that Ayu is running out of ideas to write about. It's that Ayu is revisiting ideas, exploring them again, and either saying something new about them or re-emphasizing them, reinforcing her beliefs, or reconfiguring them. There is such nuance in her writing, such small but vital changes, that it's easy to see it as mere recycling. |
^Perhaps. You should send him a PM and make sure he's aware of you innovative idea.
I've stated many times what it takes to be good at translations. Rest assured, masa always invites constructive criticism to his work. I think Melrose could have been a little more polite, but people are who they are. |

(But, then I'm a beginner at Japanese and am just considering the English side. :)) |
I don't post much anymore, but I felt it necessary to say this:
To those who deem it necessary to post comments with negative connotations please understand that it is a privilege to have lyrics translated, period. It is a favor done to those who cannot understand Japanese. So keep this in mind when masa posts these translations. And secondly, it is not an easy task; I know this as a longterm student in Japanese. Japanese is extremely difficult to translate into English while including all of the original nuances. No translator will translate something with such figurative language (this includes poems and songs alike) the same as another. That being said, I'd like to thank masa for his continuous contributions. I hope that in this thread we can continue to discuss the lyrics and how to improve translations in a positive manner. So please, keep on topic and be courteous. |

Nice lyrics. I really got myself into a evolution/UNITE! feel when I read those lyrics. I loved them. Now I just keep waiting for the single to be released. :3
|
again
many thanks masa!!!! |
Thanks masa for the translation!!:luv2
|
powerful lyrics as ever!! thanks for the translation
|
Thanks so much :)
The grammer to japanese translated to english is most of the time out in english standards so when you translate ayus lyrics to english the grammers not going to be spot on 100% all of the time |
AWESOME lyrics! GREAT job Ayu! thnx for the translation!!
|
Looking at the official lyrics, I found there had been several mistakes in my romaji translation. I corrected them, changed some parts in my English translation, and changed the line arrangement according to the official lyrics.
---------------------------------------------------- doko mo kumotte ru --> toko nokotte ru donna ni kokutte mo --> donna ni kowakutte mo jishin wa --> kachi wa hitsuzen nanda ne tte --> hitsuzen nanda tte okimari na --> okimari no ---------------------------------------------------- "This world isn't yet so bad, though cloudy everywhere" --> "There remain some places not yet so bad in this world" "However foggy, I have enough confidence in trying to trust someone" --> "However much we may feel afraid, it's well worth trying to trust someone" |
^ Thank you masa! Rule is like a complete opposite of A Song For xx... in the trusting people part. I'm just so overwhelmed at her change in these 10 years!
|
OMG!! I love it!! reminds me somewhat of "evolution" ....
|
Thank's you masa.
Love this song so much. You're the best ayu-sama song translator |
