Subtitled Ayu concerts.. better?
 

So I'm starting to watch AT07 with subtitles, and I was in the first few lines of evolution when I realized that I think I might like concerts a whole lot more if I knew what she was singing WHEN SHE WAS SINGING.

It's so beautiful! OMG! It totally enhances the performance for me..

Has anyone seen/experienced this? Jesus, it's amazing, haha.

I'm with you on that! The first subtitled concert thing/clip I ever watched was "I am..." at AT2002, and I was quite literally in tears. It was AMAZING how much better it was to watch it like that.

I'd only like subtitles if it were for the parts were she speaks. Since we have English translations for the songs already. I just would like to know what she and her crew are laughing about on stage during a MC xD

When there are subtitles you really get what she is trying to say and what she feels~
Without subtitles I know roughly what she is singing but with them it's way better~~

soo true! I remember when I watched AT05 I thought it was amazing..but then when Halkun(I think??) uploaded the subtitled version of it, it was AWESOME. :P It's kind of hard to remember the lyrics to every part of a song, so when it's right there in front of you, its great :P

I know right! I'm so looking forward to PCDL... with subtitles, but too bad it's in Chinese. :/ I might not be able to grasp the meaning fast enough lol~

I personally hate having the lyrics there when she's singing it.

I only like them when she says something.

The ideal situation for me, would be having two copies. A totally subtitled one, lyrics and everything...and one where only the talking parts are subtitled.

Well, in an age of fanmade stuff, you can't be picky.. unless you pay them to do it, haha.

Of the same reasons you guys have pointed ouhe feeling is over the top amazing with lyrics.
And I LOVE to have lyrics in the talking parts too. The talking shows so much personality that you really cant capture if you dont know the language and have no lyrics.

I think yes, its very good for those who can't appreciate Jpop because of its language barrier.

There are no subtitled DVDs (never mentioned them).

However, there are fan subtitled works which are just as good.

For me, I really like them. Her performances are great without them, but they bring so much more emotion to the floor when you know what she's saying. For example, even without the subtitles, her Memorial Address live performance at Arena Tour 03-04 is stellar and emotional without the lyrics, but with them I just fall into tears.

If you're showing a live to someone else, though, I'm not sure if I like having lyrics or not. This is due mostly to the person focusing more on the subtitles than the actual concert. It's like watching a movie with subtitles: you have to put more effort into understanding what's being said, you you don't have the time to soak in the visuals. :shrug

Definetly agreed. AT07 did it for me, too, especially with kiss o' kill, because that's one of my favorite performances (Evolution, too!).

Hey~the latest HK version of PCDL 2008-2009 DVD has subtitle in Chinese!
I guess this is the first subtitled DVD ever released officially......
(I know some VCD in the past has subtitle as well, but I forgot which one)

it's definitely much better and helpful because i don't know a lick of Japanese.
so hopefully ayu will look into english subs for future DVDs

Sometimes it's better, sometimes it isn't. Like on Youtube there's some nice videos with good quality subs in yellow. I really like those.

But then there's some that are just dreadful. As long as the concert and subs are HQ I don't care. ;D

Definetely YES. I love to understand what is she saying to the crowd and the lyrics of the songs... In my language (Spanish) I just have a concert, (Arena Tour 2006) but I have a few more in english (The first disc of AT05, CDL 05-06, Stadium Tour and... no more? O_o I thought I had more than the ones I named...) that I can understand 90%.

When I read what she says I feel like... nearer of her, like I am a part of the show ^^ .

i first watched the Dome tour with subs, and it just hit my soul!!!!!!!!
LOVE that concert!!!!

but i also noticed that i pay less attention to the actual show if i have subs. i don't catch all the details unlike the subless concerts.
but i always watch her concerts more that once so it's no biggie :P

it's great for the MC. before i saw a subtitled concert, i always wondered what in the world she could be talking about!

I'm half and half on this. I can enjoy her concerts without seeing the subtitles, because they're a spectacle in themselves, and it's usually all about the visuals and the way she sings and the band, dancers, etc... And for most of her songs I can get the gist from the lyrics as I've sorta memorized a few parts here and there. When I watch it with the subtitles it usually is when a particular song is special to me and I want to know exactly what she says (as much as the translation allows that meaning to show through). I can watch both and like them, though the subtitles are also very nice. :3

Btw that blog has been like, my saving grace for over a year XD I love it to death! I was just watching her NEXT LEVEL PVs on there earlier today.
