Does anyone have her first album Nothing from Nothing?

Hello! Does anyone have Ayumi's first album Nothing from Nothing? I would like to buy it as it is considered a collectible now that Ayumi has become such a big star. Plus, I don't feel like I'll have a complete collection of her albums without it. Unfortunately, it appears that it is very hard to find as I've been searching for it for awhile with no results. I understand that is older but it's weird that I can't seem to find a single copy of it anywhere. Anyways, I'm just curious to know how many of you own it since many of you have been Ayumi Hamasaki fans from the early stages of her career.

I do! I got it brand new sealed on ebay some years ago, it was a really nice deal <3

Pieces_of_SEVEN 9th June 2010 11:30 PM

I don't...also not too worried about it since it's pre-avex

Mary Weather 9th June 2010 11:32 PM

yea, it's pre-avex so I don't think it's considered collectors. But it's an awesome CD in my personal opinion!

Delirium-Zer0 10th June 2010 01:21 AM

It's interesting to me how pre-avex stuff might not be considered a collectible at all to anyone!

Anytime an artist explodes in popularity and their early work (under a different name, on an indie label, etc.) surfaces, it's ALWAYS a collector's item. Alanis Morissette, for example, did two pop albums in Canada before her 1995 album "Jagged Little Pill" came out. It was under a different name (her first name only) and on a different label (MCA as opposed to Maverick). Only a few thousand copies existed, so they were HUGE collector's items in the late 90's when she was popular. I'm proud to own both :P~

Hanson released two albums independently in their hometown of Tulsa before they became famous with 1997's "Middle of Nowhere." Those two albums were INSANE collector's items when the band was at the height of their popularity as well.

Tori Amos fans also know that she was in the band Y Kant Tori Read in 1988 and released an album... it sold INCREDIBLY poorly at the time, but when she got really popular, her fans were willing to dish out between $250 and $400 for a copy of it, and bootlegs of it were very easy to find.

"NOTHING FROM NOTHING," considering its rarity and its place in ayu's discography as a piece of her creative history, should ABSOLUTELY be considered a collector's item if you're an ayu fan! It was officially released on a major label, so it's not as though it's a fanmade piece of jewelry or a bootleg CD (neither of which could be considered collector's items). This is a little piece of ayu, and an important one, and should be treated with alot of respect even if it isn't good music and isn't on avex.

And for another thing, look how rare it is! Because it sold so little, so few copies were officially pressed, which is why it's easy to find the taiwanese bootleg single. The 3" single especially, being in more fragile packaging, is probably much harder to find, especially in good shape.

If you find a copy of this album, jump on it - it is EXTREMELY rare, and I think it's an important thing to have, and to have respect for, same as all Ayu's old movies (if you find DVDs of some of them, same thing - they're worth paying for and having if you're a real collector).

That's just my two cents... I just wish I had a few hundred dollars for NFN :P~

^mte

The fact that it's pre-Avex makes it more rare. It's not a priority to get it but if the opportunity presented itself, I'd definitely jump on it. :P

Not a collector's item? OF COURSE IT IS.

:laugh

That thing is rare.

gothicayu 10th June 2010 04:23 AM

honestly i dont have it and even if i could i wouldnt buy it because i just can't stand those song . it would sit on a cd rack without me touching it .seing how much it sell for now it would be a shame .

i do consider a collector item though considering the rarity of it

xLitax 10th June 2010 04:40 AM

I was tempted to buy it... It was over $200 and I just didn't have the money. :(

Picaflor 7/4 10th June 2010 05:52 AM

i feel like I'm one of the only people that actually like the songs on the nfn album. >>

majrakun 10th June 2010 05:55 AM

^ I REALLY like the songs on the album too! Some of them are quite catchy AND you get to hear Ayu rap :laugh Isn't that amazing enough as it is? XD If I ever stumble on a copy I wish I could own it too, not just for collector's sake as well.

Delirium-Zer0 10th June 2010 07:13 AM

I'm a pretty big fan of "LIMIT" and the album version of "NFN"... the rest are pretty much yuck, in my opinion... the original version of the title track is really amateurish and "Gut-it, Pez" is such a mess it's almost funny. "PAPER DOLL" I'm kinda indifferent on, but it's not awful, just repetitive and dull after awhile. The album varies WIDELY in quality, even just over the course of five tracks XD

kendelle 10th June 2010 08:16 AM

I really love NFN, it's such a cute album I don't know why people don't like it :P

It most definitely is a collector's item, threads pop up on AHS all the time when copies go up on eBay. I think the most recent one was about $1000 US but it didn't sell.

If I ever see it at a reasonable price I'll jump on it :)

2Hurt 10th June 2010 08:25 AM

I almost got it a few years ago, but it was going for a lot of money on auction, so I let it go.. not many people seem to have it here o.O thats how rare it is lol

LacusClyne 10th June 2010 10:22 AM

As much as I would like to own it, but the average market price is too costly, USD$300 to USD$1000.

I can think of so much more items I can get with that money...

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 10th June 2010 05:38 PM

i guess NOTHING FROM NOTHING is just for NOTHING~~ :laugh

Picaflor 7/4 10th June 2010 05:43 PM

finding a reasonable priced nfn album up for auction is about as difficult as finding the japan press of utada's cubic u album with the song "here and there and back again" on it. -_-;

REALLY?! You have it?!

That's sooooo awesome! I would LOVE to own this album, because I actually like the songs on it a lot!! :heart

Eewyi 10th June 2010 08:09 PM

I have it as downloaded HQ version but not as a psychical realase. I would scream if I found it, and definitely buy it too~
I`m gonna be the only one, but actually I liked the songs in it really much. It`s super cute when Ayu raps, and it`s funny to think that she was then as a same age as me. : D

And I`m gonna be the only one again, but I personally think, that Ayu should realase Rīn`B-styled album someday. She is good at rapping : D

Mary Weather 10th June 2010 08:22 PM

I love the songs on the album. I think they're so awesome! But I'm not gonna buy it. Too expensive. But it would be nice to have.
