Haha, I just feel that it's weird ... promo tapes? Well, do think that it's really obsolete already, why would Avex release them anyway? I mean DVD and CD audio have got more options, what's with the cassettes? Guess it's "promo tapes"

For starters, I believe promo tapes are exactly that: promotional items. Whether they make much out of cassettes these days is anyone's guess, but I suppose that as long as some people (even if it's a select few) use tapes, they'll still continue to be made.

And as for the CD/tape format, Ayurocks posted about such an issue here. The CD format itself costs very little to make, and you're right that it has more options than tapes, but with CDs normally at $20+ in certain locations these days, I don't see a change in that anytime soon.
