Something unique and unusual to listen?

Hello peeps!

I kinda like asking for people's help with music artists, i tend to do this a lot here it seems lol
um after bumping into this SingerSen lady I realised I am so tired of the good old pop and rock that I ate all the songs of hers like a starved dog lol So i am looking for something simmilar. Something vocaly strong (or strange), very unique experimental with a little bit of classical, folk and rock influence something like SingerSen. Something haunting.

I do enjoy KOKIA these days and like a couple of pieces from Alan. I don't mind chinese as long as it's good music, but japanese is deffinitelly more listenable for me, i dunno why lol

So if anyone has something to suggest to give a try to, i'd appareaciate the ideas! cuz some of you guys have some really good jewels in your music libraries ♥

here's a couple of examples:
KOKIA

SingerSen

alan

i think you get the idea lol

I don't have any suggestions, BUT I loved what I heard!
Just saying
It's such a slow day on the forum...

Rin' are wonderful! They even have a song with alan :)

cavonzia 16th December 2012 04:14 PM

- Kalafina
it gets all you've mentioned (folk, rock, classy, haunting and unique vocal)

- Anna Tsuchiya
Unique voice, and mostly her songs are rockish and pretty creepy

and try Lecca too if you wanna something that unique, she has pretty unique (both singing way and music)

Oh that's right! I don't know why I didn't put it in my previous post, the song is amazing <3

I have never heard of SingerSen but she sounds amazing. A welcome addition to my life :heart
anyway,

Spread the Eiko love :heart

I agree with megumi that Eiko is good. Eiko brought a new musical perspective to my life lol. Hikki and ayu had to make room for Eiko with regards to my absolute favorite artists. I actually recently lost a lot of my music and need to find these albums.

I'm a huge fan of her Hikari nadeshiko album and her O album.

some others that I prefer from her more than the ones already given.

Spoiler:

I can't suggest all of the I've Sound girls but I also like some of MELL's stuff:

You should check out Chihiro Onitsuka. Check out her song "infection" and "Gekkou" as well as the hidden jewels "Dining Chicken" and "Wakusei no Mori"

ohsixthirty 16th December 2012 06:38 PM

this is kind of long... :)

Spoiler:
i recommend ACO.

and you may have seen pommy and i talking about her, but i'm loving Sa Dingding lately.

and i highly recommend Miu Sakamoto if you don't know her.

maybe bice.

i would say Kaela Kimura is "unique and unusual" though i suspect you know her already.

WONDER Volt

lela.

Pink Martini & Saori Yuki.

BlackSilence 16th December 2012 08:51 PM

wow that's quite a lot, you guys! THANKS. You can bring more tho xD

Um i will check these all a bit later. Just will say that I know Eiko and MELL heard a few songs that i lreally loved, but not everything is actually for my taste, well maybe MELL is more appealing to me than Eiko, Eiko kinda goes "blaaaaaaah" for me in lots of her tunes i only am really into a couple of her songs. Also I gave so many chances to Anna but she never cklicked with my taste, which is weird cuz i'm a sucker for rock chicks...
I also have tried Kalafina and i have to say they are pretty good, but also not all the songs i have heard are for my taste either.
Sa Dingding is good in a way of "creepy" and "unusual" but from that one song i heard she's way too electronic in it (Ha Ha Li Li), unless her other works have more colors than that one.

but i am gonna try all the ones you guys posted cuz maybe i was just cklicking on the wrong videos xD

Here's some of her songs that aren't as electric (?), I guess. Heh.

Chiharo 17th December 2012 09:09 PM

I second Akiko Shikata.

emi♡ 17th December 2012 09:25 PM

Faye Wong :yes

maybe Cocco and Miki Furukawa.

Miki is kind of like a darker, more rock oriented (sometimes) version of Miu Sakamoto.

Cocco...I think she's most like Chihiro Onitsuka.

Faye is Faye...I can't even explain that one...I need Delirium_Zero lol

I really like SingerSen.I have already listened to a few songs from her although I only discovered her yesterday on this thread.I find very innovative the combination of dark electronica with chinese traditional folk music. Thanks to those who recommended her.I will also try the others artists mentioned:D

you should try (japanese) MELL - Mellscope album or one of the albums by (chinese) singer Laure Shang, for example IN, Ode to the Doom or Nightmare are the best ones

koumori 23rd January 2013 12:20 PM

I second that Laure Shang is a good artist to check out...although she may not be as "unusual" as what you're looking for. I personally think Time Lady is her best album, although Nightmare comes second.

KarenPang 23rd January 2013 12:27 PM

Kanon Wakeshima

I haven't come across any other artiste that writes & sings while playing the cello other than her

Her older works are much more darker/emo/moody cos of her mentor Malice Malice Mizer/Moi dix Mois's guitarist Mana that composed her older stuff . Not that I don't like her most recent works (that she composed them herself) but something about her older stuff is what makes her unique in the 1st place

Also , what she did with An Cafe's bassist Kanon was also great . kanon x kanon is also worth checking out too !

BlackSilence 30th January 2013 07:41 PM

^ i've heard her before and i cannot stand her vocals....:tired but thanks for a suggestion.

@maddy1111: i'd love to try MELL albums out, i do have acouple of songs i love from her and in general her style is very me. VBut where do i find the albums?
