Meaning of "Ivy" ?
I think this is a great song, and the lyrics are great too! The one thing I dont understand is the line where she said "This publicized love with you fills my heart"
it sounds a bit weird with the publicized. what do you guys think about this song? as in, what do you think it is about to you? to me it's pretty obvious at the few first chorus and stuff, but in the end it doesnt even make sense who she's giving the song to ;__; |
Maybe you need to look at other translations? Sometimes when translating something from Japanese it loses it's meaning in translation.

I think she's explaining to her lover about the past or something.
They asked Ayu about how she got to where she is and stuff, and she's telling them a 4 minute story. |
About the publicized thing:
It's this paragraph, right? あぁ隣で同じ方向見つめてる (aa tonari de onaji houkou mitsumete ru) 君と掲げたこの愛に胸を張っている (kimi to kakageta kono ai ni mune wo hatte iru) I personally translated it as: You're by my side, looking in the same direction I'm confident of this love which I hold high with you (my full translation if you're interested is here) "Publicized" is probably the translation of 掲げた (kakageta). It literally means to hold something high (like to hoist a flag, or hold up a prize). In a less literal sense it means to parade something around or show something to everyone (like a company parading a certain slogan). It's difficult to translate, but she's saying something along the lines of: we're confident in this love and we hold it high for everyone to see. I'm not sure why the translator used "fills my heart" either. "Mune wo hatte ru" means to feel confident and proud (of something). |
that was misa chan's translations that I had haha! thank you for clearing that up for me :D

Short story, I just feel like it's "I love you so much, always, no matter what."
