Lorde's Pure Heroine

So she's still pretty new to the scene...but omg I love her! She's like Lana Del Rey 2.0 :luv2

She recently released her album Pure Heroine and it's packed with talent. I recommend to anyone who hasn't heard it yet

Any other Lorde fans out there?

The album was amazing. I love her minimalists productions. And her voice is gorgeous!

Ughhh finally the Lorde Thread has come. She's simply amazing.

I like her.

buuuttt my dad has been spamming this shit for months, so. I'm a little tired of it lol

Her EP was awful, but her album Pure Heroine turned out amazing! Only complaint is her vocals are a little lifeless.

Ribs is my favourite song, so great.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 1st December 2013 11:24 PM

She's really good, and I don't think she likes to be compared to Lana del Rey lol

I hadn't heard of Lorde before this thread, but I've since checked out her album. Nice mellow stuff - love her voice. :) I personally wouldn't compare her to Lana Del Rey, but I can understand the comparisons..slow beat songs, rhythmic vocals. She's definitely got her own style though.

My favourite so far from the album is Royals, but there's a lot of solid tracks..need to give it a few more listens.

Thanks so much for making the thread. :heart

EDIT: Buzzcut Season is great. The album is way too short though.

Everytime I hear Royals I want to shoot myself in the head.

GREENsora 4th December 2013 08:13 PM

^ I know what u mean :laugh I was hesitant to listen to her album after all that air play of Royals

@Koumori: So glad you like her! :)

On the side note, she's a great artist and all, but I feel like her attitude needs a bit of a change. For those you who don't know, she dissed major artists like Selena Gomez, Bieber, etc. You can read about it in the article below.

Article

Even tho she defends herself by saying she's stating her opinion, there's a limit. There's a difference between respect and opinion and she isn't showing respect to these fellow artists :shrug

Lorde has always come off as some stereotypical sophisticated bitch hipster to me idk I'm not surprised with her responses towards those three artists'. And to be fair, JB is sort of a douche (although his music is guilty pleasure).

I think there’s a funny culture in music that’s only happened over the last 15 years, that if you have an opinion about something in music that isn’t 100-percent good, you’re a ‘hater,’ even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique.
She's right tho.

I don't think she said anything that bad.

I've only heard Royals and Team so far. I will give her album a try when I have some time.

George 6th December 2013 03:15 PM

I don't mind that she criticizes other artists. What gets me is her holier-than-thou attitude. People shouldn't be so hard on her though. She may look like she's in her early 30s but she's just 16. We were all 16 once.

GREENsora 7th December 2013 12:02 AM

But in a industry such as the one she's in, she should be careful in what she says. If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all. People put different meanings into the music they listen, I just don't think she should be trying to enforce her own meanings and try making her owns superior :shrug

Same here. I'm all for speaking your mind, but she's so new to the industry/public eye that I don't think it's a wise decision to speak negatively (and in a way that can took to be so critical) of established artists.

The thing that irks me is her quote on Selena "I’m a feminist, and the theme of her song is, ‘When you’re ready come and get it from me.' I’m sick of women being portrayed this way." Like, I never took the song to have that kind of message in a bad way. I always saw it as more like, I'll be waiting till you're a better person, then you can be with me.

Or even, there are songs with a much worse message Lorde could've spoken about. It was just an unecessary comment to make imo.
