Worst Colours PV & Discussion

Let's choose which PV in Colours is the worst & have a little discussion on them, since I think the PVs are getting fans all riled up this time round.

Now every video has received some form of backlash...

Feel the love: Featuring obese girl trying too hard to fit into standards of beauty, represented by Ayu. Adding salt to the wound, said obese girl was featured in comical manner that seemed to mock her appearance/effort to lose weight, despite all fan-made theories that the video is about "loving who you are".

Merry-go-round: Video with the least criticism, with some saying it's a copy of "progress".

Lelio: Amazing song letdown by a horribly boring video; bad dancing, awkward posing, cheesy background effects... :no

XOXO: Cute song that had a video that many said to be "rubbish". Featuring Ayu and her transexual dancer (Lico). Having escaped from RuPaul's Drag Race, them "girls wanna have fun" and used a phone's selfie features to take awkward shots, followed by them being slutty in a nightclub with bad lightning.

What fans didn't ask was... Where's your selfie stick Ayu??

http://www.independent.co.uk/incomin...0stick%203.jpg

Angel: Beautiful song featuring "Curtain call" alike PV taken in a "single take". Beautiful Ayu, beautiful dress, cheesy effects towards the end (no one can take that one second of blurring to give her wings seriously). Much complains about not digitally removing her safety rope away despite theories that it made her "human".

---

IMO the worst is Lelio. And don't say "all" guys although most of you want to :P

Discussion:

For all that is worth, I thought XOXO & Angel probably had hidden "symbolism" in them.

In XOXO, like many have said, has elements of satire towards selfies and maybe slutty girls. The overacting could be attributed to her satire acting of "rich and materialistic" girls trying too hard. Other over-the-top fakeness includes the badly weaved weave & Lico as a "BFF".

But no one can take her seriously because her execution was filled with garbage (as always since maybe 2011)...

What I think could have been done better were to have all her female dancers in and just having a good time in the USA. Maybe tease some boys along the street, have pizza, twerk a little, and then end off with a selfie? She had potential here to dress normally, be a girl-next-door having girly fun with her BFFs but she chose to dress hideously!

For Angel, I thought the premise was beautiful. It was dark, desolate and very quiet.. fitting for the song. With such an atmosphere and the famous single take that Ayu does pretty well (Curtain call, Sweet Scar), it makes you wonder why the camera keeps shifting; Ayu never constantly stays in the middle which bothers me.

The effects were shitty too though I did get where they were coming from.

I didn't like that she didn't "go all the way" with this. Like if she wanted to have angels descending to give her wings, perhaps a better idea were to have her be dead, having her spirit wander around the streets, before getting judged by a "powerful being above", and angels coming down to give the decree that she's a devil, and maybe she struggles and wants to go to "heaven" with the angels?

So much potential given the theme and atmosphere of the song but of course she butchers it.

^Agree completely with you about XOXO and how she should've execute it. I was expecting something generic tbh like having all girls fun and all, it'll be OK. The selfie concept can be implemented while dressing casually ofc lol

Also agree on Angel, she can do more about it and the story actually.

Lelio can be fix with better costume and make up, because when you see YEAH-OH it's kinda the same but the execution is better imo

My favorite PV remains MGR since I love timelapses and her natural look is too beautiful to miss :yes

Everything except Merry-Go-Round

ayu is so dramatic in Angel, hahha, she makes me laugh. And just look at the angels, XD XD.

Lelio, ayu is so funny and silly dancing with cheap effects, she makes me laugh too.

XOXO, ayu's expressions are so bad, and her eyes are so big, she makes me laugh a lot.

Feel the Love, ayu appears 5 seconds acting so fake.

Merry-go-round is the only good PV from this era.

The only video out of the bunch that I can stand is "Merry-go-round" (single or album version caus etheyre nearly identical) and that's only becuase she looks pretty on the roof
Every other video is rather atrocious

AyUmIXx 21st June 2014 05:53 AM

yep merry-go-round is the only one that has quality in it, love both versions.

as for the others, it could have been better if there are more stories on them. everything is just so random. i really like when fans could describe/give their opinions about the hidden msgs in her PVs.

Lelio is quite good, i like the effects, but ayu is lack of costumes, different scenes..and of course the dancing skills.

XOXO is soooooo random... why would she come out in the daylight (her walking to the club is way too early, that looks like just around lunch time LOL..) and she's already in her sexy outfit, it'd be better if she could wear a coat cover it then take it off once she hits the club., then the guys in the club would be surprised how hot and sexy she is...then she could take many selfies as she wants n post them in instagram/twitter/facebook that "girls just wanna have fun!"
even though she's so funny doing all the selfies.. and she's having fun..but everything is just so lacking..
angel could be so good...i don't understand why the safety rope has to be seen on her.. her black dress is gorgeous though..

oh well, at least i enjoy the album though. i like most of the new songs.

Because she doesn't turn into an angel, she just want to be one.

That makes sense !!!

XOXO is just terrible in every way.

Lelio is kinda fun, but her dancing and facial expressions leave something to be desired.

I like Angel, even though she's way over dramatic.

I'm actually not too fond of Merry Go Round.

+1, this is the only album I would buy CD only.

Just saw Lelio. I thought it was 2014, but I guess I'm wrong and it's 2004. Or... 1994?
Not sure, but can someone please sit Ayu down and just put her in dance classes for awhile? I've seen big girls do better moves!
She moves so awkward... :(

emi♡ 22nd June 2014 05:33 AM

Lelio reminds me of when I take my little brother to Chuck E. Cheese, and they have these random generic music videos playing, where there's just a kid dancing, and then random computer generated shit happening in the background.

If that video cost more than $1000, she got ripped off.

alternarist 22nd June 2014 08:56 AM

i like Lelio! Other than ayu's awkward attempt to dance, i think its colourful and upbeat!

Angel is fine. I like ayu's angles during the chorus. =x

XOXO is really trashy. ayu could have done a normal kinda party PV like Shake It, but she did it 1000000000 times more trashy than that with the big hair, ugly outfit and the dumb acting. -.-

Merry-go-round is beautiful and that's it.

Hahaha, awkward is the best word to describe Lelio.

I really don't like XOXO either :(

channy 22nd June 2014 05:30 PM

"Lelio" PV reminds me of works from "mini" and "Mizca" but those were low-budget electro-pop attempts (I like both of them, nonetheless), hence that weird feeling as one would expect something more subtle and elaborate from Ayu's team.

JesA 22nd June 2014 05:42 PM

I thought all the PV's were terrible, to be honest. But using the term "slutty," is a bit offensive, don't you think? Nothing about the XOXO video had anything to do with promiscuity, and slut shaming is no good.

I prefer XOXO out of all of them, because it was fun.. But in all honesty, all of these PV's are completely laughable, mediocre, and poorly done.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts about the PVs.
And that lipsync in Angel is just horrible. I like the concept though...

BlackSilence 22nd June 2014 09:50 PM

they are all bad in different aspects except for MGR:

LELIO: totally random, low budget outfits, pretty much pointless video. I think if she could have gotten at least one point of the video right, say outfits, dancing or effects it wouldn't have been so lame lol

XOXO: i just found it over the top and laughable. She also looked horrible, and the dance scene at the club was probably filmed with a potato..lol

ANGEL: got my attention at first and it would have been fine but she was overreacting and the CGI again....someone teach them how to do it right. It had a lot of potential though.

Feel The Love: i don't even know, i don't like the song and i ust didn't like the PV either.

Merry Go Round was probably the only one that i really liked. Preferably the single version, it had symbolism and some sort of meaning and it look quite "Ayu" to me. It was the only decent PV from the bunch. While Angel could have been the second if they toned some stuff down and put a bit more effort to other things.

Thanks, I didn't know how to describe them :)

worst videos ever

some of you think, like me, that the "black-wings-i-can't-fly" concept on Angel video
is simillar to the first segment of the lady gaga's G.U.Y video?
