The crowd at Singapore singer JJ Lin’s Taipei concert on Saturday (Feb 14) was given a big surprise when Ayumi Hamasaki made a guest appearance on stage.

While speaking to the media after the show, JJ said that he specially invited Ayumi to fly over from Japan and that it is a “dream come true” to perform a duet with her. In addition, the singer complimented on her “big and beautiful eyes which made his heart race”.

“She is very warm and westernised,” he added.

To deliver a convincing rendition of Ayumi’s classic hit “Seasons”, JJ spent two months practising his Japanese pronounciation.

Previously worked with CNBLUE’s Yonghwa, JJ will be collaborating with Ayumi on a new track titled “Gift”, which was inspired by Ayumi’s transformation from a girl-next-door to a superstar. The melody is composed by JJ while the lyrics are written by Ayumi. Filming of the music video is set to take place in Japan after Chinese New Year.

When asked about his New Year resolutions, JJ expressed his wish to win the “Best Male Singer” award at Taiwan Golden Melody Awards for a consecutive time. However, he admitted that competition is stiff as many A-list singers had recently released their albums.

In terms of love, the 33-year-old is “leaving things to fate” at the moment. JJ will be travelling to Europe for a two-week vacation during the Chinese New Year period.

He might mean "more open" than a regular Japanese person.
