A Concept : create your own conceptual ayu album

I started this thread because I'm quite excited for ayu's latest announcements and also because I've always wanted to make conceptual ayu albums.
I had this idea for the last few days (the bad weather helped a lot) and I thought I'd share it with you.
Basically, in this thread we shall post our own conceptual ayu albums. All criterias are accepted : after genres, after a certain mood or theme, in chronological order, everything you like.

Okay, so my first conceptual album is called "A March". I thought of it as a compilation album, a collection of "rainy" songs. There are two CD Only versions. The Limited Edition which includes original mixes + remixes (12 songs + 3 interludes) and the Regular Edition which includes only remixes (12 songs + 1 interlude).

A March

*Rainy Mood

CD Only Limited Edition
*Genres : trance, ambiental, dub, chillout, experimental, acoustic, ballad

Tracklist:
* Taskinillusion (interlude)
01/ rainy day
02/ Far Away (Ocean View Remix)
03/ ever free (HAL's Mix 2000)
04/ Dolls
05/ Endless sorrow (Natural Green Dub Mix)
06/ Hanabi
07/ Over
* Neverending Dream (interlude)
08/ No More Words
* Everlasting Dream (interlude)
09/ Rainbow
10/ Sweet scar
11/ beloved
12/ Daybreak (HAL's Mix 2002)

CD Only Regular Edition
*Genres : trance, ambiental, dub, chillout, experimental, electronica

Tracklist:
01/ NEVER EVER (tears of aquarius mix)
02/ SEASONS (Dub's Rain of duv Remix)
03/ Far Away (Ocean View Remix)
04/ ever free (HAL's Mix 2000)
05/ Endless sorrow (Natural Green Dub Mix)
06/ Hanabi Episode 2 (HAL's Mix 2003)
* Taskinillusion
07/ Dolls (Future Breeze Remix)
08/ everlasting dream (Rainbow Dew Drop Mix)
09/ UNITE! (No.1 Blueberry Wonderful)
10/ vogue (Kirari Natsu Ayu Mix)
11/ Daybreak (HAL's Mix 2002)
12/ Key (nicely nice waterfowl remix)

Both versions flow really nice and they both tell a story created through ayu's beautiful lyrics and the deep sound.

p.s. : I also came up with the idea of this thread after I saw the remixes discussions thread.

Oh man, this is a cooooool idea! I'll totally come up with some concepts here soon. (when I'm not writing a paper, haha)

Thanks :)
Curious about your idea

The albums has two covers but it seems that I can't make them visible here x.x :(

^Cool idea for a thread and I'm loving the track lists! Think I might have to make up a playlist of the first A March "CD"!

BlackSilence 25th February 2015 10:01 PM

That's a cool idea!
i've done a few in my mind in the past but i'm gonna share this one for now. I already shared it a good while ago on the forum but this fits here well!

Spoiler:

okay so first of all I TOTLLY ****ED UP THE TITLE T_T and only noticed now when everything's done. so ignore that please. (on the other hand it might be as a play on words "all" and "ways" and "always" lol megh~)

With a nice meltdown of a forum over the [LOVE again] i'm bringing this here. I've spent two days on this...i know it's nothing special cover-wise (it actually looks a little like a hot mess) , but i designed the A (which none's gonna like xD) and also did sketches for the gifts, just pretend that they are pictures of actual things xD

The album comes with a slipcase and a clear CD cover. And since Ayu's been playing in sand till now I thought a little late winter cover would be alright lol

Everything else is on the flayer and in spoilers:

tracklist (and backcover)

Covers without slipcase and with (slipcase has a title it's a transparent case with only a title and deco at the corners)

Lemme snatch the very first playlist and put that as my playlist. The idea is too good to pass up!

!Lawi! 26th February 2015 10:31 AM

I like the idea!

I'm not sure it counts as a "conceptual" album but I've had a playlist on my iPod for months that I keep updating. I consider it a kind of "discovery" playlist for people who would want to embrace the variety of genres Ayumi's been through. The thing is, it's clearly not a best album and I imagine most of you won't agree with the song selection as it's absolutely not representative of her discography, but I like to listen to these songs in this order. Now I look at it, it actually looks more like a concert setlist!

Anyways, there it is! As for the name, I guess something like [A]tlas would be sweet ([A] being her logo), since I like to think it shows how diverse her discography is.

01-Song 4 U

*taskinst
02-1LOVE
03-Wake me up

*THE introduction
04-Marionette
05-November

*montage
06-Don't look back

*taskebab
07-Love song
08-Lady Dynamite

*Disco-munication
09-Sexy Little Things
10-Eyes, Smoke, Magic

*Everlasting dream
11-crossroad
12-Born to be...
13-Bold&Delicious

Listening to this playlist always reminds me of why I've been addicted to Ayumi for the past 10 years!

Surreal17 26th February 2015 11:10 AM

@artcika : I really like the special gifts, especially the first thing
@!Lawi! : I'm listening to your playlist and its really refreshing to hear these songs in another order :)

Heavenly 26th February 2015 12:00 PM

I was keeping making conceptual albums all the time lol
I need to unbury them though ^^

Delirium-Zer0 26th February 2015 02:26 PM

!Lawi! I think that's actually a really, really amazing playlist. I think it would work really well for introducing new fans too because one of the things people seem to like about her when I introduce them to Ayu is her variety of video & music styles. No, no one will probably love every track on there, but that's a SOLID playlist overall.

!Lawi! 26th February 2015 02:49 PM

Well I'm glad the two of you enjoyed it!
Even I am not actually that much into Song 4 U and Born to be, but they somehow feel right where they are in the playlist! All the rest are (a tiny part of) my all-time favourites though!
Now you just have to find someone who's willing to spend 1h+ on Ayu songs :)

If anybody has more of those "season-related" playlists please post them here, that Rainy Mood one saved my day!

Aww, thanks :)
I really enjoyed doing the "A March" album. Some songs are reborn when they are put into stories. Same with ayu's.
I'm working on another album but I don't know when I'll finish it.

edit: I've managed to finally upload the covers but man they are huge.

Well... Here are the concepts I came up with on AHS forum (I put the links of the posts) :

- The mst recent one, with an album composed of title tracks :
http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showpo...23&postcount=1

- An album with full-length interludes (like MW) :
http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showpo...88&postcount=1

- An oriental-oriented album :
http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showpo...69&postcount=1

- A freaky one, with a whole crazy concept lol :

Gosh! Some of them are quite old !

!Lawi! 26th February 2015 09:45 PM

^is it bad that I actually remember most of them? I even saved the last one on my computer back then, I can remember!
