Is this just a weird bootleg or something? The cover really caught my eye.

Edit: ok, after looking at the tracklist, I am convinced that this is a bootleg. XD

I have 3 bootlegs, they are hard to play, my Mac does some weird sounds, then it reads, but sometime it doesn't

Even though I knew it was a bootleg I almost bought this a couple of times. I was interested in the remixes.

Now that I read visionfactory's post I'm glad I didn't.

Same here, especially since it's fairly expensive.

I purchased the Hong Kong version of this release, which used pictures from Tu-Ka for the individual disc jackets. That version in particular was an EXTREMELY high quality bootleg - very good sound quality, played with absolutely no issues.

A lot of people have the NOTHING FROM NOTHING single bootleg too and, like most Ho-Son releases, it plays just fine.

Most bootlegs you find nowadays aren't manufactured as well as they were back in the day... Back in the early 2000s there were a TON of bootlegs made by companies who were in that business and had very streamlined, pro operations. They didn't have hilarious spelling errors (though there were plenty of those too, haha), they played fine... they weren't necessarily easy to identify unless you knew to look for the avex logo.

I'm not saying go ahead & buy this - obviously, it's a bootleg - but back in the day when "the other side" was in high demand and really hard to find for a reasonable price, and before mp3s of "NOTHING FROM NOTHING" were easy to find and really fast to download like they are now, there were a handful of us who had a version of this box set.

^I'd have never thought there was a high demand for bootlegs

Well, bootlegs are great for when you're missing the music itself. These days digital files - both legal and not legal - are readily available, so most people buy physical CDs for the collectability. That wasn't really the case back before 2003 or so, when if you wanted good mp3s you'd have to scour people's collections on soulseek, search in Japanese on napster, and find a DCC bot on IRC who didn't reject your connection. The only way to get Ayu's entire discography was logging on to someone's FTP server if they were nice enough to give you the login information for it.

It's hard to believe there was a time when even MP3 files of commercially available CDs by a huge pop star were rare or hard to find, but that time did happen.... and bootleg CDs were a huge help to getting an artist's complete collection of work.

Yeah, when I first became a fan, my sister gave me '&' bootleg version. It helped me to know more old songs from Ayu since the internet was very slow and expensive that time :p
