Ayu went to the Japanese premiere of the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" in Tokyo on 24 November 2005.

it's just promotion tactics, there are many movies that get released later in japan actually, I'd say that it (Japan) being the biggest box-office territory (outside the US) has a lot to do with it.
