NEW YORK -- Ashlee Simpson collapsed following a performance in Tokyo and has been hospitalized.

The 21-year-old singer on Thursday had just performed her single, "Boyfriend" for MTV Japan, when she told the audience she felt sick and said to them, "I love you guys," Us Weekly reported Friday. She then collapsed in an elevator and was rushed by ambulance to a hospital.

Her representative, Rob Shuter, confirmed the report to The Associated Press, but would not give further details or provide Simpson's condition.

Simpson, the younger sister of Jessica Simpson, has been touring to support her sophomore album, "I Am Me." She infamously was caught lip-synching her "Saturday Night Live" performance in October 2004.

Her upcoming appearance at the Radio Music Awards on Monday has been canceled. (AP)

Man.. first BoA faints, now Ashlee? Some people may not like her.. but it's sad to see how sleep and rest deprived young stars are nowdays :no

Haha i heard this on the news the other day and laughed.
I kinda like her, i think she sings good and everything, but knwoing that she fell was funny.
But i do hope best wishes for her recovery.

Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update took a shot at her, stating "the concert went on unchanged without her"

There may be some who remember she was caught lip-syncing (spell check) durring a live preformance for said program a couple months back.

That reminds me of when I saw this 60 something year old woman dancing her ass off at a rave. You know the scene is dead when you got grandmas comin' out to the parties XD

It was hilarious to watch though, she should be in music videos...
